You'd think that clubs who are interested in buying a player would try to insert such a clause every time they approach a selling club.

Would love this to be true, but in reality no selling club would be crazy enough to do this - unless they knew the price for 'exclusivity' was absurd!

Probably kicked in over the period of the visa application.

I tried to read the article but was put off by an endless stream of pop ups and other such nonsense, so I gave up.

Suffice to say, if Levy managed to persuade the richest club on earth not to listen to any Chelsea interventions while we negotiated the Aurier sale...and they agreed...I'm in awe of his incredible negotiating skills. I'm just glad he's on our side...!

This is utter garbage peddled out by blogs with absolutely no kind of substantiation.

We don't even know if Chelsea were ever in for him. There's no way we could say "we'll give you €25m for him, IF he gets a work permit and you're not allowed to accept a bid, even if it's higher from another club

UNLESS we deposited that €25m in their account before the work permit was granted on the basis they would return it if the application failed.

From what i have read it was agreed that as the move was subject to work permit, the two clubs agreed that no other club would be able to bid for him while waiting for the work permit.

A deadline of midday yesterday was set and if the WP hadn't come through by then cheatski would have been able to bid. So it was a short term agreement, i don't think any club would agree to it long term,

You've read that where though? And there's literally nothing we could do to blockit short of handing over the money up front.

Various sites have reported it. It could all be internet rumour but I don't get that feeling about it.

I don't see how you could enforce any such arrangement.
You don't see how one can enforce an exclusivity arrangement?

In the courts of course

You don't see how anyone would agree to one I can understand .

Why any club would agree to that is the question. It makes no sense. Where is the benefit to the seller?
I call bullshit on this one.

PSG are under the cosh for FFP as it is, they were probably desperate to get some cash in, there was no guarantee anyone else would bid for him, so we held the power in negotiations and insisted on the clause...

Not saying thats definitely what happened but is that scenario that hard to fathom?

They just spent €400,000,000 nearly. I don't think they give a shit about FFP, UEFA, Fifa or whether they could get €25m back from us.
Now we've got Aurrier I personally hope they are thrown out of the football system forever.
There's no way there was any incentive at all for them to comply with an exclusivity agreement other than having the funds in their back when Fifa/UEFA looked. I'm not sure we'd have paid all of it up front either.

So they desperately needed money in for ffp and so agreed to let no other clubs pay more for him.
Yes. That makes much more sense o_O

They haven't, they've signed Mbappe 'on loan' for next season so they don't have to pay it all up front, and I'd expect some financial shenanigans with how they pay for Neymar, they've got some the best financial people in the business finding loopholes to get around the farce that is FFP.
