We were battered in the first half by a very, very good team, but managed to cling on by our fingertips. In the second half we were excellent and might have won it. I don't think people on here are fully cognisant of how good a team Liverpool are. They would have seen off any team in world football last night and we stood toe to toe with them largely. Tactics were spot on.
The issue for us are the games ahead, after two disappointing results. Beat Leicester, and we're fully on track to regain momentum and have a fantastic season. Anything else could take the stuffing out of us, and you could see the project easily falling apart if this style of football doesn't continue to be backed up with results. I have to say I'm a little worried about Saturday and Leicester aren't the sort of team you want to give too much of the ball to up front- their attackers are ruthless.

That's not Firmino who makes the run, it's Williams. Firmino is being picked up by Toby (or Kane?).

I agree it's a scummy move by Henderson, but I don't think it directly impacts the goal.

Fair enough and thanks for pointing that out.

That said, it doesn't need to impact the goal to be a foul.

All of this is moot, however, if we don't score our chances (including a Harry Kane sitter).

Lol, some of the posts I'm reading this morning are both pathetic and yet expected.

When we laugh at the state of other teams forum threads, just take a look here to see as a fan base were no different.

We narrowly lost for the first time in 12 games to the reigning champions(at their place), in a game that their own captain said was their best performance of the season.

On another day with better finishing it possibly goes the other way imo as the chances we created were better overall than Pools.

Jeez some of you really need to get a grip.

We have now played all the supposed pre season title challengers and sit 3 points behind the leaders.

We are in a very good spot right now, and are still not the finished article.

We finished miles behind this lot last year, get some perspective for the love of God.
You are right on a number of points, we are certainly in a better place than we have been for a while and that is something I feel positive about, but I don't think there is too much wrong in fans getting a little frustrated when we drop points in the last few minutes of games, this is the third time this has happened this season against Newcastle, the Spammers and this lot.
It's frustrating because it often happens against this lot, it was very reminiscent of that time two seasons ago when we lost in a similar manner to them in injury time 2-1 at Anfield when Carragher went right over the top. Then we had the Sissoko chance that could have won it, so it does feel like rinse and repeat and that's what gets people frustrated. It would just make a nice change for it to go our way for a change against them.

The last time we got a last minute goal against them was at the lane when Pav popped up with a winner, but that happened at a time when they weren't as annoyingly arse kissed by pundits who literally fall over themselves to give them plaudit after plaudit.

I mean Jose asked for that. Funny if you ask me
That's the sort of shit that deserves to come back and bite him his teammates later in the season. But that shower are genuinely one of the luckiest teams I've ever seen in football. Another little injury to that prick so he misses some key games wouldn't do any harm though.

Why wasnt Robertson booked for either of his challenges on Aurier and Moura? He's absolutely filthy. Did the same sort of studs up challenge on Tanganga last season too and got away with it.

Yeah I'm not sure exactly what the ruling is, but it's pretty clear Henderson is making no attempt to get anywhere near the ball. It'd be interesting to know what VAR's take on it was.

Yeah I agree, we may well fall short for the league. I think we may well get a pot of some description though which along with CL qualification I'd snap up all day long.
Yes I forgot to add that I think we can win a cup this year, but I've waited long enough to see us win the league again another year won't matter.

I'm already bored with the posts whining about our approach to games. How on earth can you call it boring? I'm on the edge of my seat for 90 minutes.

Mourinho wants us to be the Atletico Madrid of the PL and I'm here for it all day.
Who the fuck goes to Anfield to play an open expansive game? It would be like bending down, trousers down, in front of a serial rapist. Anyone who bemoans our approach, especially in last night's game, is a fucking idiot and should fuck off and watch Ice Hockey.

Disappointed at losing another goal to a free kick swung in from the flank. They could have buried us in the first half, we should have won it in the second. Most disappointed that Fulham had a real go at them and got a point. We didn't and didn't.

Absolute prick....

Good. Even if it is a load of bollocks. He's helping us out with that one IMO. We've been on the end of being praised for playing attractive football and it often comes with a condescending 'but they don't win things'. Anti-Football is a bit OTT to say the least but i'm not too unhappy with it.

It's another small slice of bullshit that will help foster the kind of bloody minded siege mentality that sometimes helps good teams win things. Enough of being the stunning bridesmaid who everyone wants to get stuck across. If being an ugly old dray horse with a triple hairy flange turns us into winners then i'm hiding the veet :D

Don't know what I'm more annoyed at to be honest, the block or the fact that Dier hit the deck from that....

I mean I don't know, on another day if we're lucky and the ref is looking straight at them he may have blown up straight away but at that point in the game I don't think you risk being a clever ****, I think you just make sure you win the ball at all costs and clear the danger, take those risks further away from goal.

Woke up and the first thing i think about is Kane's header. Such a huge chance and he score that 9/10 times.

Gonna take a few days to get over this one and hopefully we take thw frustration out on Leicester.
I feel Kane was being pulled from behind, and hence is not quite as far forward as he wants, he then leans his head forward at the last moment to try and reach, and its at the wrong angle (your head tends to point down if you crane it forward). It was a subtle foul and there was little more he could do from there.
