The big aerial threat up front has nothing to with Sonny though does it?

Not directly, but I think they'll go through a pivot midfield like a knife through butter. I'd put 3 in CM and therefore 1 of the front 3 would need to sit it out, at least for starters. Their midfield have also been providing crosse for Haarland.

This is one of my favourite fixtures. Guaranteed entertainment and goals.

I'd take a point right now though.

This'll be one of very few games where City will have to think about the opposition. ASM did a job on them for Newcastle finding space out wide in transition. Our advantage is that we can do that on both flanks with Son one side and Kulu the other. If we can set traps in midfield then this could be another blockbuster. 7-9 to Spurs.

Walker might miss the game against Spurs - he is already out for the mid-week game, less clear about Spurs, though Pep suggests it could be the international break before he is back.

That could really help Son, and would probably mean City have to adjust their tactics slightly to better account for the counter attacks.

You’d imagine their defenders will all have to play mid-week vs Sevilla too, as they don’t really have anyone else other than Akanji fit to come in to their back 4, whereas we can heavily rotate. Very fortunate for us if Stones and Walker are both out

I think this one will be our first defeat of the season... sorry ?

I know we had a great result at the Etihad last time. But City will be looking for revenge and after their draw with Villa they will be extra motivated.

The game is also sandwiched in between our two first CL-games since 2020... City are used to pressure from the CL... So I think they will cope better with the fixtures and everything surrounding them.

It could be a close match. But in the end it probably won't be enough for us.

Of course we have to be positive. We have every reason to be... I don't think we can keep Haaland from scoring at the moment. So we probably will have to score 2-3 goals to get something. Like last time.

And we have to be balanced and smart. Or else we will be slaughtered.

My tip is 3-1 City ?‍♂️
I’d agree with this but the way they’ve started the season they can certainly be got at so although I’m expecting a loss, I don’t think a draw or a win is impossible like sometimes it has seemed away to them.

Agree for the reasons you’ve stated that it’ll likely be a difficult match, but we are good on the break/pace in behind which is their kryptonie so let’s see.

Also possibly no Walker? That would be great if so.

They can be got at, but with Haaland in their team we can be got at more. This won’t be like other years when we play them and they don’t have a striker, so we can sit back and soak up the pressure. They now have a machine in front of goal and I just don’t think any of our CB can keep him quiet for 90mins.

I think it will be a VERY high scoring loss

Honestly could see something like a 5-3, they will leave so many gaps but will also absolutely pummel us. As always against these it depends who takes their chances… it’s been us recently but they’ve got Haaland scoring rather than Sterling missing, which is a shame

I've never been comfident against City but time and time again we've somehow got the better of them.
As you say they now have Haaland instead of Sterling but they used to have Aguero and he wasnt too shaby either.
Its a nothing to lose game really as expecting nothing.
Draw would be a great result.

Keep the faith Wadewill, dont fret before a ball has been kicked. Palace, Newcastle and Villa have shown City can be got at.

I know sons off it but we need his pace against city. Same team tonight for me.

Bet both of them will be playing against us.

Out of sight before the break if we keep playing like what we did at the wed night.

Unless the team can find a way of passing to each other and increase intensity levels then this could be a long day

I know we've got a good record against them but that will be playing on the minds of their players who will be bang up for this one. If we play anything like we did last night then it's going to get nasty.

Tough call on Son - his form has been awful but we know our best chance of scoring is exploiting City's high press and hitting them in behind with pace which we'll need him for.

I'm not sure who we play up top. I'd start Davies over lenglet, and sess over perisic. I'd be tempted to play deki, but I'd hope he takes up a more central role.

Why? People sound really worried and I know De Bruyne and Haaland are dangerous, but we still aren't conceding clear cut chances. Marseille barely had a shot of any note that I can remember. We aren't attacking at all well at the moment which is not great, but when defending I feel pretty safe for the most part. As long as we don't let De Bruyne pick up those positions in the inside channel where he flashes it across the box, I feel we will do ok.
