Watching it again, Silva definitely hits stamps Højbjerg's heel before the opposite contact. Ridiculous this was not checked by VAR.

The whole captain thing is so overrated anyway. It shouldn't matter who is wearing and armband it's not going to make us better if someone else gets this magic armband, at least it certianly shouldn't. I honestly couldn't tell you who's captain of any of the other 19 teams in the league.
Completely disagree sorry, a captains role in a team is very important especially in-game and having a GK as captain is a big issue as they’re never near the play.

Jordan Henderson has been a great captain for Liverpool and his effort and leadership on the pitch have driven then forward in the last few seasons. City still haven’t replaced Kompany who was massive for them.

Spurs haven’t had a good captain for a long time. I think Dawson was one of the best ones we’ve had in recent times but he wasn’t the best player ever so mabye not super respected, I think Kane or PEH as captain would help us.

I don’t know why we played Ndombele behind Kane and we did well yet we’ve since dropped him deeper and now play a complete ineffective pleb in Lamela or Moura behind Kane.

I know Sissoko isn’t great but he would give us more physicality in midfield and it would allow us to push Tanguy further forward. We would then have an outlet in midfield whilst maintaining a solid central midfield.

Actually the perfect half for Sissoko.

After having taken a closer look at it I completely agree with those saying that Gundogan stepped on Hojbjerg.

What the fuck does VAR exist to do?
To justify giving it to the Salahs, the Vardys and United

VAR clearly haven't seen the foul on Hojbjerg. Protection refs get makes me sick they can't even own up to a mistake.

You need someone that's going to stay wide right. I can't believe I am sat here watching yet another team play with no width on the right because whoever we send out there they just seemingly want to drift in and hold a central position. It was exactly the same under Poch.

This is so frustrating.
That’s what happens when you put lamela on the right, he will naturally want to drift inside.

Need to put him central and replace Lucas with Bale on the right, just not sure if Bale would be up for this.

This was always going to be a very very difficult game. Smash and grab is the only way we are winning it and to be fair we are still in the game following a very very soft penalty.

Sanchez have a rare excellent game and hopefully we can go up the other end and grab a goal. Personally I would change Lucas for Bergwijn as I feel he offers more.

Lamela started well to be fair. Perhaps tiredness? Or could just be cause the team have stopped trying to play through the middle

Lamela is good when people are getting close to him and there's lots of one touch footy happening. He's a bit isolated today and City are doing a good job of pressing Hojberg and N'dombele out of the game. He's getting the ball and having to think which is where he then dawdles too long on the ball. He either needs to be moved centrally where his energy can help us get some control of the game or if not this one might be better suited to Alli or Bale.

The plan is working, we knew what it was at the start. It’s not Mourinho’s fault that the passing is crap. We have had around 10 attacks which broke down due to poor passing

Not solely his fault but Son has not put in a good performance in 2021. Really disappointing that Lucas and Lamela spend more time on the ball than him.

This is key. Not tierney’s fault at all for giving the pen, I saw the same initially. But for var to not go through every angle to see if there’s something the ref missed is terrible. Even worse if the var ref did see the angle and didn’t think it was an error.

Not minding it at all today.
Best real effort on goal
Non penalty for them.
Spirit and application shown.
No real fuck-ups
What's not to like?
Nobody has really fucked up as such but everyone is making mistakes.

I do agree we’ve generally done okay, though.

His defensive positioning and ability to win 99% of defensive headers is outstanding. Our actual centre backs don’t even know where the ball is lol
He credits playing different positions all over the pitch until quite late on as a junior for his unusual all-round ability. It's interesting. Probably not something kids should do intentionally, but in Kane's case, the results have been excellent.

Playing well, would be level but for a totally unbalanced ref display, need to swap Lucas for whichever player is most likely to inject some threat but honestly, definitely think Jose’s getting more right than wrong the last couple of matches.

Reckon if we can score early we win this.
