Foyth is really poor defending. I do like that Ange encourages players to be brave on the ball though. They played like they had too much going on their heads under Conte. Like they would be always thinking "am I in the right position, should I just clear the ball long..". Players need to play with a bit of freedom.
This is where I have a lot of sympathy with players.

When Foyth joined us, he had something like 700 professional minutes under his belt.

Hardly nothing.

This is a talent that needs attention and coaching.

He joins Spurs under fellow countryman Poch and is expected to be a future CB of a energetic team.

Poch decides he needs him to stay around bye first team so he doesnt pick up any "bad traits" in favour of loaning him out where he would actually play crucial minutes and learn a lot about himself as a player.

But then Poch is fired, which essentially rips up that plan for him and he is now under the tutelage of a coach who prefers to test players mentality and character rather than build up confidence and nurture.

He makes a mistake, a mistake he could easily have made and learnt from years prior in loan, and he is no longer trusted.

He has to then wait to be loaned out to Spain to get minutes.

Previous 2 years for nothing.

He may have been able to kick some of those traits had he been taken care of better.

"The manager literally said you can make a mistake."

That to me is HUGE for a player's confidence. Keep trying and doing it the way the manager wants you to and if you make a mistake that's okay.

People assume that when a player gets to PL level they should be the final product, but every player is still learning.

What makes Ange special is he claps mistakes when the player is trying to do something progressive but goes mad when we just hoof it anywhere.

That is class.

Reminds of about 20 years ago from the youth team from United. Apparently they banned parents of the team who would go to the game and start making noise. They said you can come but you must be silent.

The reason for this is the mentality. Some of the parents were (and still are) idiots. So they would shout stuff like "get it in the mixer", "hoof it forward" and "kick it out"(of play) as well as some really stupid stuff.

And because United were trying to make their young players play, they didn't want the kids having this distraction.

Players learn by making mistakes Rio Ferdinand was making mistakes every other week early on in his career but because he kept trying things he learned and became a great CB, same could be argued with Stones as well.

What we were doing under Conte was the opposite, we were cowards in possession. Scared of making mistakes.

Yes, a lot of praise going Ange's way...often deserved, but when I look at our improved potential there are other factors.

We have had a sudden massive upswing in the quality of our players. Udogie, Mads,VdV, Vic all arriving and hitting the ground running. Sarr, Porro Biss coming up a level . Romero becoming more engaged/focussed.

In many ways it is a new team with brilliant players. We saw Ange's style of football with the old team that Conte had (w/o Kane ofc) vs Fulham. Not a pretty sight, no way to beat the press. Ange's style of football works well...with dazzlingly good players.

So yes, Ange has done great, but isn't there another hero behind our success we should be cheering ?

I speak of the one and only...Paratici, the quiet architect of our newly wonderful prospects.

....And just following on from ^^ train of thought . Could it be that the reason we have no new DoF is that we're doing very nicely with our 'consultant'....in his slightly grey area of helping/not helping..or however the club chooses to put it.

Seems to be going rather well whatever it is....new DoF ? No fanks, we have a 'consultant' :cautious:

Did a real double take today when I saw Ange and his family at a well known theme park. Didn’t want to bother him or intrude on his family time, but the guy has a real big aura about him! I wouldn’t want to be on his bad side!

ange will be live on white & jordan for 15ish minutes at some stage tomorrow.
I cant see anything bad coming from this…. :cautious:

Fingers crossed Jordan is always quite fair and reasonable just as long as Jim White doesn’t start trying to provoke him with his usual mindless nonsense

I imagine it’ll be pretty softball. They won’t want to put off other managers from coming on.

We've seen Ange is both thick-skinned and quick-witted. I don't worry about that at all.
