Maybe it points to the fact there was in fact a plan.

I doubt it, it seems like there general consensus we had from the beginning is there was a list of candidates and we worked our way down it.

Not saying AP was at the bottom of the list either, but regardless of where he was we would've had to wait for the Scottish season to end before opening discussions as to not disrupt Celtic's season and fuck up our negotiations with the board by shooting too quick.

Either way, I'm quite happy with the appointment. I was apprehensive at first, but I've come round to the idea that he may just be the man we need to take us forward. God knows we needed one.

Can someone give me the low down on him. Formations, style of play etc. I've not been keeping up to date due to work commitments
Plays like Pep, says he can't coach defensive football so don't expect it. Likes fast wingers and lots of quick aggressive passing. At Celtic he was playing a 433 with one inverted full back so in attack it's a 235 and they press in a 442 shape.

He's s old school in that he keeps a distance from the players and isn't one of the boys but they all seem to love him.

Comes across as a real leader.

4 years is a big statement IMHO. Hope that is a big sign of the club backing the big man to fulfill a big ambition!

The way I see it is even if it goes up in flames at least due to his ultra attacking style we will have taken the first steps in realigning ourselves with the sort of team we should be. Best case scenario we have discovered a tactical genius who takes us to the top, worst case the building blocks will be in place for whoever follows.

Get him a solid GK, new CB and an AM to supplement and things don't look as bad as they do now.

Summer recruits are going to be absolutely critical to our chances under AP, just like they were previously.

Let's hope the board pulls finger and actually backs the manager 100% with the players he needs and for a change, they don't leave the team short in one position or another.

4-year deal is nice, but also a bit of a warning that neither side expect the club to immediately turn things around in this upcoming season.
Looking at his spell at Yokohama I think we should be prepared for a pretty rocky season TBH. I'm assuming the 4 year contract is a sign that the coming season will be seen as a transitional one which is good as it probably will be considering the overall state of the team and the style of football we have been playing over the last few years.

Was not my first second or third choice but I will always support the club. What I will say as a sports fan… ozzies are absolutely passionate about sport in general and hate losing. So let’s hope if nothing else he brings a mentality change to the club👍🏻

A bit painful - but really the right long-term move.

Not only was his Brisbane Roar side still the best team to ever play in the A League but is still one of my favorite teams to have watched.

If it was a toss up between watching the phoenix or watching the roar I’d choose the roar every time.

an A League coach to manage Spurs, well they got the best of the lot.

fucking great day for Australian football.

Interesting that is says in the club statement that he doesn't join us until 1st July. I'm sure it is just contractual language but I hope that doesn't mean our transfer business won't start until after then
Levy ain't paying him to go on Holliday mate.

Excited to see what he can do, looking forward to the season now.

Has he told us we will be proud, yet?

Avatar changed.

Really intrigued and excited by this appointment. Feels like a step into the unknown but I think that’s what we all need at this time.

When I think back to the start of the Poch era, it wasn’t his attacking style, or high press that made the difference to me. It was his rule about all players greeting everyone when they arrived at the club each day. That seemed to really help create a cohesive unit on the pitch.

If Big Ange can get everyone pulling in the same direction - I think the fans will all be on board quickly enough.

I don't agree. It seems pretty clear our 4 shortlisted candidates were Ange, Amorim, Enrique, Slot.

Those were the four the club felt fitted the criteria of what they wanted for their next appointment. We obviously spoke to all of them. Decided initially that we wanted Slot but for whatever reason that didn't happen. Then we moved on to another on the shortlist. There was silence because we had to wait for Celtic's season to end before pulling the trigger. Seems like a plan to me.

In any profession you will have a shortlist, interview all candidates, choose your preferred candidate to appoint. If they turn you down then you approach the second option. It's pretty standard.

Really looking forward next season and as this is really long term appointment, hope he gets the time needed. We won't transform into what he wants overnight
