A great win but the first thing you can mention is Winks not playing ??‍♂️

It's ridiculous isn't it? A great win and some fans first thought is to dig out a Spurs player. A player that Conte himself values very highly.

Just... odd behaviour, really. Don't get it.

Yep I noticed this at the time.

If we're being extremely fair to Pawson his grimace might be because Pep and his team had been railing at him about having Romero sent off for a second yellow after the penalty handball. He could be thinking "Oh fuck now the bald fraud's going to have a right old moan..." :shifty:

Tbh the slow motion Makes it look like he’s slowly moving his head in disgust. I bet in normal speed it looks like nothing.

Was just thinking - yesterday was not that much different than Jose's approach / tactics against Man C, which was equally successful (2 x 2-0 wins)
We had more open play XG than City but overall they had more when you count set pieces.

Bit flummoxed that Son, Romero and especially Lloris being smacked Down by our fans not being world class. Bizarre.

Son is world class. Indisputable. As is Kane.

There are a few question marks over Romero's rashness (see yesterday's penalty and the slip against Brighton). But at 23 he is a Rolls Royce of a defender and I would not swap him for anyone. I personally consider him world class and think the mistakes he makes as acceptable risk for the positives his front foot defending brings - all the interceptions and tackles he makes. If we signed a left footed Romero to play the other side of Dier we would have the best defence in the league.

I find it hard to consider Lloris world class TBH. A world class keeper does not make the amount of mistakes he makes - just look at the last two games. All GKs make the odd mistake, even world class ones, but Lloris makes too many IMO. He is a world class shot stopper and his reflexes are second to none. But keeping goal is about more than being a good shot stopper, and he does not dominate his area and is hit or miss with his kicking. Mendy at Chelsea and Allison at Liverpool are both a level above Lloris IMO as all round keepers and are much more consistent.

Just watched our winning goal (yet) again and it really is a quality goal. Pass move, pass move, keep progressing the ball and make the right decisions. To do that in the 95th minute or whatever it was is absolutely top quality. It’s just a really good team goal.

I agree but I think overall that we look much more comfortable with the ball now and have clearly been working on patterns of play. Jose didn't seem to worry too much about what we did when we had the ball.

Still buzzing about yesterday. Tbh from a personal perspective i have been in a malaise about football generally. I had to stop playing at a time which coincided with the start of the Mourinho era ( whom i have many opinions about, none of which are positive).

Yesterday was the beautiful game at it's finest. I hope we can kick on from this, like we did at the beginning of the Poch era. If not, it has at least rekindled much of my love for the game. COYS

I don’t think people saying “that’s what happens when he doesn’t play” is digging him out too much.

He’s been, in a lot of peoples eyes, pretty terrible in the last two losses against weaker teams than City. We’ve finally got an upgrade in the middle that was desperately needed, Winks is now 4th choice for 2 spots and hopefully stays that way if the other 3 all stay fit.

We looked a much, much better team with Bentancur in for Winks, Dier in for Sanchez and Kulusevski in for Lucas. But that shouldn’t be a surprise

Keeping everyone fit for the rest of the season is paramount, we’ve a very good 12/13 but outside the quality drops so much…. As the last 3 games has shown

To be fair, Sanchez was pretty good when playing beside Dier. Romero should start ahead of Sanchez but for me the bigger difference is whether or not Dier is playing.

Not a game for Winks, I agree. However, I expect he will still be valuable in some matches as he has a much better eye for a pass than PEH.

I am rewatching now while having my morning coffee. What a great way to start the day!

:cautious: but what if Romero and Romero are out, do we slot Romero in their place?! :sneaky::LOL:

What's in your coffee " Romero should start ahead of Romero "
Skippy also quite capable of a decent pass and a better tackler than Winks and probably more mobile than PEH.
