The proof of how up Jose is for this job, will be how he reacts to the next number of games, with respect to team selection. I thought his post match interview was spot on, no bullshit. He knows where the problems lay. FFS, even we all do on SC. Eriksen, Aurier and Sissoko should be benched asap. Winks is not too far behind them. The problem is we are not going to buy 5-6 players in January. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the modern footballer (most) plays for the check, simple as. They dont feel the pain we do when they lose. They will be on social media, or out doing a photo shoot as if nothing happened, while us, the die hard fans, suffer at the tripe that was on display tonight.
I believe Jose will sort this out short term to get us through the season, maybe win the FA Cup. Then next summer, he'll tear this team apart and hopefully put together a side that give a shit and more importantly give a shit about the fans.

Not at all. This obsession on SC with FBs is absurd. There's been nothing but complaining about FBs on here since the time of Assou-Ekotto and beyond, and when we go through pairs and pairs of FBs and the SC choir stays the same, it tells me the issue isn't the players on the pitch. The SC complaining about our FBs is like a farmer who wants to sell eggs but when he is dissatisfied he complains about the quality of his rooster. Then when he is dissatisfied with the milk he still complains about the quality of his rooster.
I remember Wipey getting hell's abuse despite doing the work of both the LB and LM, he was the left side of our sodding team for a while, in the 4-4-2 for an entire year and doing a bloody good job too.

I would like our FBs improved though tbf.

Jose still sounds like a good pundit. Problem is he is revealing a lot of his thinking to the opposition who can study his interviews. One example is when he said Auriers strength are attack and that you need him to attack. Maybe that's why managers say the same old tripe week in week out as to not give anything away

Said this on the 12th Nov, Apart from anything else, what worries me the most is that we haven't got one top class defender (on this seasons performances) in the squad so we need a RB, LB, LCB, DM and a GK.

Saw the team and knew were were going to be in trouble

Irregardless of the failings of Dier, he can do the DM job. He cannot pass now but if you ask him to sit in front of the back 4 and break up attacks he can do it well

Winks and Sissoko are both not DM

Sissoko is a box to box
Winks is a jack of all trades but better in attacking

If he had no trust in Dier would have preferred putting in Skipp .

Aurier vs Rashford was a disaster in making. A striker who Jose himself indicated works brilliantly on the wings vs a RB that Jose himself indicated is better at attacking

Not the end of the world, 4 games win 3 lost 1 is not too bad

Its how Jose uses the squad and the youth we have over the Xmas period that will tell us if Jose has change or if Jose still has it

Not really giving a great deal away is it. I'm going to assume that most premier league managers have seen aurier play during the last few years.

Yeah, opposing managers must shit themselves when they say “next week we have to improve”. :D

I’ll judge Kane when we give him the ball, not scraps to chase after.

You do understand that his job is to create his own space for others to exploit/recieve the ball and not just stroll about waiting for an opening to appear!!

He’s Hose. Inventor of bread and the wheel. A man who’s been watching us all season and our shortcomings. An instant trophy winner. A man back at his old employer, with a point to prove.

that was shit. Spam me, whatever. I won’t be changing my opinion.

JEEEEEEZZ!!!! Mate, you do realise that Maureen has just walked in the door to a squad that is jaded, disinterested and stale?!!! What do you expect? The team has been left to fester since the 17/18 season ended and we had no incomings, that's not the fault of Jose, that's the fault of those upstairs allowing contracts to run down, not getting rid of unhappy players then replacing them and last but not least, not annually upgrading the 1st team!! That shit takes a season or two to put right, not four games!!!

Disappointed with Moura, he offered nothing, no work rate, he would have been instructed to help his full back from Rashford yet did not, he seems disinterested since being dropped for the final. Perhaps he does not believe he’ll ever be a regular starter like Son. Shame he has the skills to change games but rarely applies himself out there.

The thing that really annoyed me, the lack of effort showed by many of our players tonight. It's never nice seeing us lose, that goes without saying, I find losing bearable if I know we've given it everything and left nothing out there, but when the opposition shows much more effort and commitment and a sense of being up for it more, I always get far more annoyed at that than at the actual loss itself.

There is absolutely no excuse or reason why they should have been much more up for it than we were despite what was being said in the media, in my opinion we both had a real point to prove, and the team that did play as though they had, deservedly took the 3 points.

Great post that. That's exactly my main thoughts after having slept on it.

How can we, with a new manager, STILL look to play without any desire or commitment AT ALL?

Baffling.

Something is clearly not right in the mind of these players. They're actually bang average most of them.

A very poor performance, the sort, if under a longer serving manager, 'gets him the sack'. Utterly spiritless and lacking in tactical nous. It's clear that Mourinho has no magic wand to transform the team, and we're likely to see more of this rubbish without a major change of personnel. Hopefully we'll never see Winks and Sissoko teamed up again though.

Blimey. Are you related to Eric Cantona?

Can't expect a team who have - CL final run aside - been abject for a year now to suddenly get good.

Hurts to lose to such a poor United side but that says more about their motivation and our lack of it in the moment.

Still feel Jose has lots to learn about this team and will make it his life's mission to achieve something with us.

Patience innit.

Be fair. It wouldn't take a genius to know that the only strength Aurier has is in attack. He's a complete numpty.

Gutted over that performance to be honest.

That little spark of hope that this group of players with the right tactics and with some tinkering could find a second wind - was totally annihilated last night.

I mean, the effort, it just isn't there went the going gets tough. The willingness to work for each other. Gone. The passion and joy of pulling on a Spurs shirt? The result wasn't embarrassing but the performance certainly was.

We desperately need new energy in this team. Experience doesn't matter if the effort isn't there. We need to integrate Ndombele and Lo Celso, that's a must. Sessegnon, Foyth and Skipp should be given a real chance in their preferred positions. Accept that it's a learning curve and that they will make mistakes but in the longhaul it's the only way forward.

I expect Mourinho to ruthless from here on. Top coaches make tough decisions.

is there a more terrifying sight in football than Sissoko tracking back into his own penalty area?
