KNEE-JERK REACTION ALERT

Isn't it about time we all started to question Conte and his management? WTF does he train the players to do on a match day?

That was by far the worst 'performance' we've all had to suffer this season and that's saying something!

Clueless, gutless, pathetic, devoid of any intensity, plan or urgency. If it wasn't for Hugo God only knows what the score would have been. I lost count the number of times we got robbed in possession and that in itself is unforgivable, let alone all the other failings.

My God, it serves me right for thinking we could actually give United a game tonight! HAH!!! I think we can all forget Champions League if we carry on playing like that, we'll end up mid table.

Nobody comes out of that f**king shambles with a scrap of any credit apart from our goalie, and yes, I include our manager in that. I don't ever want to see us play like that again, and it's not the first time I've said that this season FFS!!!

I really thought that the one thing we did have was size, physicality and determination.

I was wrong.

Ideal scenario is we back into top 4 and Conte walks at the end of this year. This club is regressing under him.
I don't think the huge majority of the players would agree with this though and a fair number of the better ones would be very unsettled if he left

I thought under Conte we were supposed to be always fighting and pressing. Today was so un-Conte like. And long gone is the pressing we probably only witnessed once or twice this season.

Shocking. Entire team plus staffs looked shit and tired as if their food got drugged.

We are A very very average side who have not played well all season, contes inability to see somethings not working and change it is a massive problem.

There’s a massive difference between a shit performance and all of our players being shit. Hojbjerg isn’t shit - he had a terrible game by his standards so far this season. Bentancur too. There were very few positives but let’s not slag our entire team off
It's too early to be punting any sense and balance around. You have to allow time for the disappointment to fade and knees to come back out of orbit before engaging is such outlandish behaviour. I would suggest roughly tomorrow evening, Friday sometimes, once spleens have vented and blood pressure has lowered considerably.

It's a hard watch to see us continually sitting deep and allowing the opposition possession. We do not control the game with this tactic as any shots from around the box can always catch us out as they did tonight.

United played on the front foot, won most 50 50's and had players on the ball playing progressive attacking football. We seem to play such a rigid system relying on our wingbacks who were largely inefficient as they have been most of this season which in turn costs us a further progressive player by playing 3 at the back. With the system not working and our aversion to risk relies on Son and Kane to create everything between them. 2 out of 11 players! So frustrating.
Son has been the same for years but he must be called out for not challenging for the ball. He's never competed and for United's 2nd today failed to challenge for a 50 50 header at the start of their move - it's unacceptable.
United thoroughly deserved their victory

Thing is, we are not getting better. With every game we seem to be gradually playing worse. We are playing like we did under José (yet with better players).

We have spent a lot of money and imo on good players. So the only finger that points, points to Conte.

Turgid football, we could get top 4, I'd be absolutely amazed if we actually won something, even if we did, it'd be hard to enjoy watching week in week out of this shit.

Honestly can't remember a game this season where I've watched it and gone. Good game. It's always been percentage stuff.

We are all still waiting for us to click into gear. Doesn't look like it's going to happen though.

Worst thing is after 150m spend (or whatever) we are still hoping that Kane does something. Shite
Great post.

Is it possible 3 at the back is just a kind of dated formation now? Nearly every side have very fast full backs which mean you can’t be crazy positive with your wing backs and to counter it all you have to do is out number the middle. Or today playing with a 3 the opposition has just doubled up out wide and meant they’ve always got a passing option. If we weren’t coughing up any clear cut chances then cool, in all these big games the opposition are creating so many chances. Utd have been solid in CB playing a two up against Son and Kane yet we have to play 3 guys and still can’t look solid. It’s pathetic.
Imagine if we had played with a back 4 tonight……..the way Dier played tonight…….that’s why we play with 3.

You may laugh but we really missed Emerson tonight.

His running and determination is an important outlet for us when we are suffering.

I'm not sure the last time we pressed well for a period of games.

We just sit deep and try and block shots. And try and figure out what to do with it.

That was inexplicably poor. Why did Conte leave it so late to change things up? The way it was going, chuck Spence, Gil etc. on and give them a proper go to try and change things because we were clearly not going to get back into it any other way…
Conte doesn’t like losing 4/5 nil

The problem is worse sides with worse players would have put up a tougher test for United tonight. Fully agree that we will not be winning a thing with the likes of the players you mention and anyone that thinks we have a chance is incredibly deluded

Utd won't play with that hunger or intensity in those games though. We caught them on a bad night and they duly punished us.

Doesn't excuse the players, but it played a part. No teams seem to be winning these tough away games currently.

Very disappointed with the players and manager tonight regardless.
