My excitement level metre has hit the top of the scale over this signing, oh hang on it's upside down.:(
Ok if he comes I'll accept him and hopefully he'll give me something to cheer for eventually but at this point, and I have tried, I am not going to be letting off any fireworks.
That said if we are buying 28 year olds we have obviously changed our philosphy, Jose wants jam today and we'll deal with tomorrow when it comes.

Totally agreed! I for one am very high on Gedson (I'll save it for another thread, but I see him as a potential replacement to Sissoko that can cover at winger and outside back). The only potential worry would be is if Doherty was signed got hurt (spurs luck) and Gedson had a tough run in at RB which our fans need him out of the club immediately

We also have Tanganga and even Dier who could play there in a pinch. I really think we'll just get one RB this summer, and I would prefer it to be someone with prem experience.

Oh come on! The posters who gave me WTF ratings, I don't mind but be honest did anyone at the start of the window say or even think "I really wish we would buy Matt Doherty this window".
Is this not a deviation from our usual transfer policy?

Wolves target Valencia right-back Thierry Correia as Matt Doherty nears Tottenham move
Arsenal right-back Ainsley Maitland-Niles is also a target for Nuno Espirito Santo to add to competition in Wolves' wing-back areas

Wolves have lined up a move for Valencia full-back Thierry Correia as they brace themselves for Tottenham to firm up interest in Matt Doherty.

Correia, a Portugal Under-21 international, is a right-back but can also play on the left to provide cover for Jonny following his serious knee injury suffered this month. Arsenal right-back Ainsley Maitland-Niles is also a target for Nuno Espirito Santo next season to add to the competition in his wing-back areas.

Doherty, 28, is Jose Mourinho’s No 1 target for a new right-back in a deal expected to cost around £15 million. The Republic of Ireland international has been at Molineux for a decade and Mourinho has been impressed during his last two years in the Premier League.

Mourinho has been looking to strengthen the right-back area of his defence - which may allow Serge Aurier to leave for the right price - with Doherty seen as a solid full-back who will also add to Spurs’ attack.

Wolves have moved swiftly at the prospect of losing Doherty, with Correia a bright prospect available for less than £10m as Valencia look to balance their books. The 21 year-old arrived from Sporting Lisbon a year ago in a deal worth £11m.

He made 11 appearances in his first season at the Mestalla but has been allowed to leave, along with Spain striker Rodrigo who is heading to Leeds United.

Maitland-Niles, 22, is valued at £20m by Arsenal and there have been negotiations between clubs for him to leave the Emirates Stadium. Wolves are looking to add both Maitland-Niles and Correia as they look to prepare for the 2020/21 season.

Spurs have been one of the more active Premier League clubs in the transfer window and have already landed Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg and Joe Hart, while allowing Kyle Walker-Peters to move to Southampton.

If you’re not excited by this signing, then I can only assume you haven’t watched the Premier League in the last 4 years.
