Is this guy had been a new signing this season everyone would be lapping at his balls.

He pretty much has been like a new signing after having a dreadful 18 months in our colours!

Cometh the hour, cometh the man, well done Dawson

I actually think Dawson's been excellent since his run in the side. He obviously makes the odd glaring mistake (moreso under Ramos) and his positioning could be better sometimes, but he wins nearly all his headers, he intercepts a hell of a lot of passes, he always throws himself into a challenge and every so often, his Ruddock-esque diagonal crossfield passes come off (1 in 12?).

I think some people on here think it's boring to say Dawson gives 100% because it covers over his faults. I don't care. Seriously, if every player put as much effort into their respective positions as Dawson does in defence, we'd be a much better team. He's a crowd favourite at the Lane because everyone appreciates the effort he puts in. In fact, straight after his error that led to their goal last night, i heard a group of fans singing 'One Michael Dawson'. How often does that happen at Spurs? Usually, it would be boo them or shoot them in the face with an oozi. or something, before never ever forgiving them ever ever ever.

Obviously a fully fit King and Woodgate would be first choice, and maybe even Corluka at CB although he's been excellent at RB. But for me, Dawson's as good a 3rd choice CB as there is, including the likes of Alex, Brown etc. I'm never disappointed to see Dawson start a game.

Dawson will be better than Terry soon.

I think he's a typical English centre back who is great at throwing his body in front of things and winning headers. He's playing for a manager who rates him and thats affected his performances this season. I've missed seeing him win numerous headers from crosses, but he's back now and its great news for us. I think he could be a regular next season, and King may find himself being used as a squad player to cover for injuries/suspension. And if we show for the ball in midfield, he has shown he can pass the ball from defence when needed too.

Dawson is awesome!

To be honest, I think some people went overboard with the praise during his first season and we then had the usual backlash. His form started picking up after Woody came in and he no longer had to worry about nursemaiding Kaboul, and this season he's just got better and better.

Yes don't know whats happened to him this season, he is looking like the player we all thought he'd be a couple of years ago. He has been very solid all year and is definately one of our if not the best consistent performer of the season so far. I'm really pleased with his improvement, especially with the Ledley situation, we couldn't have his return to form arrive at a better time. Long may it continue.

I guess it helps a lot that he's playing alongside Woodgate and they've been able to build up an understanding. When he first came into the side, he was alongside an experienced King and looked solid. His worst form was when he was paired with the inexperienced Kaboul during the end of Jol's reign. He didn't take up the mantel of the more experienced partner. He also had a goal keeper very low on confidence behind him.

Thats all very true. I definately think he benefit's from player with a top quality performer be it King or Woodgate. However this year he has looked solid whoever he is playing with. I think he has just stepped up to the plate this year.

He also had the much-maligned Salty giving him better protection than any RB has until Charlie came along.

You wouldn't think it from our league position but I think our Defence has been almost excellent this season and that is down to how well Dawson has played when he has come in for King, allowing for a sort of continuity. It's the midfield's fault and lack of goals from the strikers at home, that we are in the position we are (, tho things are starting to look up there). Dawson is certainly showing he has what it takes after a poor run of form. Again it's all about consistency. If he carries on like this we have no worries at CB.

Let's be honest here.....Dawson needs to be nursed himself. So i guess it was more not holding hands with King or Naybet that made him loose his form and confidence.

But, since that's probably history and he's seems to found his form again...everything's fine. As long as he keeps it simple that is.

Well, that was the problem. He simply didn't have the confidence or authority to tell Kaboul to stop swanning off upfield thinking he was a striker, and his French is probably as good as Kaboul's English anyway.

I was praising him even when he was out of form. Even out of form he was one of the best backup central defenders in the league.

finally starting to become the player he should have been after his first season.

OK made a mistake there, but the guy is just immense, he is still at an age where if he keeps himself fit in the next few years he could be playing for Man Utd! (its a joke ha ha)

But really im loving the guy after bitching about him for ages, gives a zillion %, just like Zokora :)

He got hammered on here during the summer, some people (you know who you are) went so far as to call him a championship standard defender which was plainly bollocks.

Great attitude, vocal, a good pass on him, great in the air and strong. He's not quick, especially over the first few yards, but if he's in the right position that doesn't matter much. And he is most of the time.

Well done MD!!!

He gave the ball away in a bad area of the pitch. But stoke still had some work to do. Woodgate and to some degree BAE could equally share some blame.
