I think it’s harsh and incorrect to lay the blame for this game at his door. He’s not been alone in being shite tonight. The attitude has been wrong from the get go.

Football is a game of momentum, and the midfield massively dictates the flow and momentum of the game. Someone in there who snuffs things out and then is also calm under pressure and suddenly we've got a stable base and get control over the game. Midfield is huge.

We're paying the price for strategic drift over the last 3 years or so. Levy, and plenty of fans, thought we were just a "winning manager" away from winning things. As someone said after Burnley, the only strategy has been to hope someone's winningness would make us into a good side.

We invested heavily in midfield when we brought in Ndombele and Lo Celso and it's been atrocious. They're not cut out for it and we're so weak it's untrue.

The whole side is brought down by midfielders that aren't an organised unit and can't do basic things in possession.
