I personally think Eriksen is the better player and with a rumored price that's about half of Pjanic, I'd be really annoyed if we spent that much on him and didn't go for Eriksen.

Agreed on both accounts.

I really can't believe the rumored price for Eriksen. I'd have to believe he's valued at what Roma are asking for Pjanic.

Pjanic is an option too if we move the 3 midfielders.... but I think Roma ask too much for him.

Eriksen only has a year left on his contract I think whilst Pjanic is 2 or 3

Just don't see the point with what we have already. Never hurts to have quality but for 12-15 million would much rather target youngsters in defense or strikers and see if we can find a gem or two with that sort of money.

I think that's probably a fair point, although I see Eriksen as the better advanced player and Pjanic as the better deeper player. I think the key is are we really trying to get Lamela, because then I can see the point of getting Pjanic, but if not then to me Eriksen is the obvious option, reportedly significantly cheaper, better in the final third and more goals than Pjanic

linking Pjanic, osvaldo, and Lamela at moment,.... but the most recent and loudest shouts are for Osvaldo.... can't tell if this actually has legs or is jut lazy journo speak due to Baldini's arrival at Spurs... :cautious:

Lamela is the best by far of the trio, but the price reflecs that. I keep reading that Baldini "is in talks with Roma over" add name of these 3 players here...

any direct info that Baldini is in talks with Roma? And for hich player? :watching:

If we get anyone from Roma I don't think it's going to be Pjanic.

Lamela, Osvaldo, or both.

Not seen much of him admittedly but when I have I've been underwhelmed, similar feeling that I have towards Eriksen. Anyone give me a decent write up on him? I didn't get the feeling he's near Willian's class but hey ho.

Good player but inconsisent and I feel like he doesn't care much. Except when he plays for his NT and he was very good in last few games for his country. Not sure if I want him.

His strengths are his passing and long range shooting. He'll try a clever ball and has the ability to pull one off. His weaknesses however, put me off. As i said in the ITK thread he's lazy and goes missing and as a result doesn't play all the time for Roma even when fit. He's a good player with potential to get better and could be great in the Modric role, however his work rate lets him down. I don't know if AVB will get that out of him and I think I'd rather have a try on Eriksen or simply allow Holtby to develop into that role who is a fair few years younger than him.

I have a horrible feeling that if we sign him he'd end up being a bit like Sigurdsson where he just doesn't quite get going despite his good set of abilities. He won't get in over Capoue/Sandro/Dembele/Paulinho in a midfield 3 and can't play as a wide forward, so he'd only be useful as an attacking central mid in the 4-2-3-1 role.

Cheers Syn.

He just doesn't excite me (sorry to sound like Spursking)

Willian had all the flair and creativity I would love in a player, such a shitty turn of events.

There are other players out there of his ilk, just if they are available for us.

Does a trio behind Soldado of:

Chadli - Lamela - Townsend

Really scream top 4 + ?

Hard to say. Definitely not if Arsenal strengthen and we fail to improve our defence. Lamela is brilliant and will be like our Oscar but he's not on Bale's level yet. All in all its a stronger attack than last year but still missing creativity. Throw in Willian and we'll be looking good for a top 4 finish.

Very possible that our "interest" in him is really us floating a rumor to influence the Willian camp.

Could also be Roma floating it so they can say "Spurs wanted Lamela & Pjanic, but we fought them off and only sold Lamela."

Not on paper but then again neither did

Podolski-Cazorla-Walcott

I haven't seen too much of Lamela but I thought he's played on the wing more for Roma, seems pretty direct but I feel like we need a pass master behind Soldado, someone who can mix up the tempo of the game and be creative. That's why I don't even like Bale playing in the no10 role really as he's so direct and as we've seen against teams that park the bus we struggle to create space and opportunities.

We need a young Riquelme.

Lamela was developed as that sort of player but he was moved out to the right to allow Totti to dictate everything due to his lack of mobility but vision. Lamela has a lot of creativity

We do need a pass master behind Soldado you're right. Lamela is a right wing-forward primarily, he's good with the ball at his feet, good passing and has that ability to cut in and shoot on his favoured left foot. He can put in a good cross and play as a winger but he's definitely a goal threat. He's played for Argentina in the role behind the striker and, although he's not a playmaker, makes some good passes and links up well enough to be effective. He's got a bit more creativity than Bale, but he's not as explosive as Bale in terms of power and pace. However, he's the best Bale replacement I can think of at the moment, considering his age too.
