Great Window,

All I hope is that when we purchase we buy players on the way up, Soldado aside this is what we have done. AvB needs to foster good spirit and ambition and we could see fireworks.

Potential players that could be top stars and induce major profit for the club:

Lloris
Walker
Verts
Sandro
Capoue
Erikson
Holtby
Siggy
Paulinho
Chadli
Townsend
Lamela

the squad really improved

- The Romanian defender, replaced both Caulker & Gallas, who both costs us several points last season. Kaboul is back from his long term injury, so no need for 5 CBs at it's so much.

- probably you might moan about losing Ekotto, and idealy we could do better with 2 real LBs, but we've Naughton who is defensive FB, as well as Vertonghen, and so Ekotto was, Rose might offer something difference, probably Vertonghen swtch to LB sometimes (if Rose needed rest or etc..) this would give all Naughton, the Romanian defender and probably Fryers more chance to play..

- last season we ended with many Central Midfielders on the bench, who are many limited players ( not good in many positions ) .. for example:
Parker & Livermore were our backup for [ Sandro ] as ball winner Midfielders.. Both aggressive, one experienced lost his form, and a bit weak when it's come to physically.. the other who is good physically but inexperienced and not good enough at all, we always lose our control in the game with him playing. We replaced both players with [ Capoue ] who is quicker, strong, aggressive and hungry to prove his worth, also can play as CB too, as 5th option.
Huddlestone & Carroll were ourbackup for [ Dembele ] as deep playmakers, both are very good passers, but Hudd so slow, not top 4 quality, while Carroll i like a lot but he is still inexperienced for top 4 spot, i doubt he can get fair number of games with current depth in our squad. you. We've now one ready to push for our aim in [ Paulinho ] who can offer something similar to Dembele style - find space for himself around opponents and go for shorter passes, and we were playing better football with Dembele than Huddlesotone, aren't we? We've also see [ Holtby ] who should switch to deeper rule this season, as he isn't 10 type player. it's simple as that.
Dempsey was main our main LW last season since Bale switched to AM, was Bale backup if GB switched to RW sometimes, and he was our 3rd option for striker rule but simply the guy wasn't good enough as LW as he is so slow, sometimes did OK as behind striker where he scored some goals, but wasn't good enough, we came in with [ Chadli ] - who although not satisfied with him as LW but at least quick and need some games at this EPL level. Also We've all [ Townsend - Lennon - Lamela ] can be backup for him there IMO.

The big loss in [ Bale ] but it's look like was difficult to keep him more .. but we've [ Eriksen ] who we've big believe in him,we heard a lot about him and he could do well, if things not worked and we need a threat outside box, [ Sigurdsson ] can be taken from his backup rule last season as LW to AM, where he played very good game vs Crystal Palace, also [ Lamela ] can do a lot there, personally i think he is the next hit for us & remarks my words, I'll believe in him as i did and backed Bale, when many were questioning him in early days, SS57 may remember me for that lol, Also We've greater options in CM, so we can either take Dembele or Paulinho to this rule or play 4-3-3. Also Holtby can be good in that system if needed.

- Right Wing, We've Townsend and Lennon, the first is like new signing, and Lamela can be very useful there.

- upfront, you've 3 natural strikers now, Soldado, Adebayor & Defoe. Althought I'm against Soldado price and prefered Benteke, but it's far better than nothing, and he can be useful.

The most important thing, we won't relay on a player, and Arsenal might do if Ozil worked wonders for them.

I think its time to forget how we played with Bale, he doesn't play for us anymore. We will be a different kind of Spurs side, I am not sure it was healthy to rely so much on one player. It is going to take for the side to settle and the key is to keep picking up points in this period, we have won twice and even though we could have played better we were well in the NLD game. Let all the new players know how passionate we are in the home game against Norwich. COYS

The team is stronger overall but there is a giant Bale-sized hole in it we were never going to be able to fill. I don't think that anyone can doubt that we have gone about our business in the right way but let's not forget that we haven't spent any money. No £50M largesse from Uncle Joe, nor the extra £38M we get from the new TV deal. Not even our usual, budgeted transfer fund.

I'll give Levy credit for now but come the January window when it will be clear where our deficiencies are I won't be listening to any excuses for not spending to rectify them. No "we already bought 7 players in the summer" or "players are too expensive at this time of year" bollocks. We keep falling just short because Levy has pennypinched and not given our managers the tools to finish the job and in the end it has cost us the Champions League on several occasions. This has been a very good window for us but I feel we have missed an opportunity to make it a great one.

Lamela will fill it in time. In fact, Lamela will tear it a new one.

Great window. Timing's just meant that the creative cavalry are arriving a little later than the more physically imposing new midfield options we already had on board...but they've arrived! Lamela will give defences absolute fits, and will free up space for Soldado to make those runs and actually receive the ball in dangerous areas.
Eriksen, like others here, is my pick of the signings. We'll get his fluid link-up play a la Modric, long range goals from open play, great crossing and passing, threaded balls to find runners like Paulinho and Lamela, and obviously the killer pass that Soldado has been craving. From the dead ball, his corners and free kicks will be really threatening, especially with the likes of Vert, Kaboul, Paulie, Soldado getting on the end of them. He'll also score plenty of goals himself directly from free kicks.
Also, both Lamela and Eriksen are great at bringing the ball up from defensive midfield areas, one of the things we were really missing against Arse. We're getting our attacking threat together; it'll take a little time to gel with all the new arrivals, but I think (barring key injuries) we can get a result from any one of the top clubs, home or away.

we've done great business in this window but i have to agree with fatpiranha that it feels like it's not quite enough for us to properly challenge. our rivals are stronger, liverpool have done some very good signings, the scum signed an absolute world class player yesterday, chelsea, united and city will be up there no doubt. so all in all i fear it's not enough for us, sadly. with bale we had a game changer. at the moment we have players of huge potential but the gelling might take some time. we just don't know how it's going to work out yet

Rose is a good left back with good physical traits. He's also fairly young. Give the boy a chance before crucifying him

We now have a far better balanced squad. We have players who can tough it out as well as flair players who can turn any game around. We are physically bigger and quicker and have added to our skill set with players like Chirides. Some games we may see Holtby, Ericksen, Soldado and Lamela on the same pitch which could be insane. Other games we might have Sandro, Capoue and Paulinho putting it about. I'm a bit disappointed that Carroll has gone but hope he uses his time well. Overall I think we have done incredibly well with a net spend of roughly zero.

I am elated with our business. It was gut wrenching to see Gareth on the Madrid pitch and I struggled to really identify with the side that played at Arsenal at the weekend but that will all fade with time.

My main concern is how much time it will take for the team to settle and start playing with the swagger we expect at Tottenham. LIverpool have hos the ground running, retained their best and added quality, Arsenal have seemingly recovered from their initial issues, know each other inside out and again have added quality. In a game of fine margins, we may be a step behind already this season.

Having no genuine first team left back in the squad is a poor oversight when you consider our outlay but again, I think we can afford ourselves a little whinge and then get on with it when the next match rolls around as theres little we can do about it now.

Lets just hope the likes of Paulinho, Chadli, Lamela and Eriksen can settle and provide their spark.

Looks like a Sigurdsson highlight reel from Swansea and Hoffenheim. Lets hope he doesn't forget how to do it like Gylfi has!

I'm over the moon with our signings. There are some serious numpties, who are lambasting our window and the fact we havn't spend no real money, fully laying into rose, and even questioning whether paulinhio, soldado or chadli are good enough. I really do dispair sometimes. Think a fair few are having NLD day defeat and Ozil Meltdowns and live in the chelsea and man city world of fifa and championship manager football

I'm delighted defoe and ade are still here, we have one amazing striker with two proven premiership strikers who know how the league works, fighting for places. Harry kane, i'm unsure of, i think he lacks pace, but he drops deep a lot and does link play well.

Glad lennon stays as well, i think its important with all the new players we have some old ones here to make it easier along the way. His only 26 and i love him, his raw pace, and work rate are probably the best in our squad. He knows what he iss good at, and does it. Ronseal.

Rose, is very young and raw, i'm not sure how his career is going to play out, his raw pace saves him a lot - but playing games week in week out will only improve him, he showed some pretty good form at sunderland last year.

As for our signings, delighted. Some serious talent as come in. Chadli, i think needs time to settle, but his close control and feet are superb. Paulinhio and capoue look like worldies, and erikksen and holtby fighting for positions is encouraging. Lamela i hav'nt seen enough of to really know what we have.

Oops, well I'd imagine they'd have something to do with nipple clamps and those vacuum jug things* that you see occasionaly on websites of ill repute.

* If you don't know what these are, you'll probably want to keep it that way.

tough titties is an Aussie phrase meaning 'thats tough'.

As people have already said we have virtually upgraded the whole side from the Bale cash. Seven new players in a variety of positions plus Sandro and Kaboul who when back to match fitness will add loads.
In season one AVB was required to play using Redknaps squad. It was a bit like wearing someone elses boots to play...it was done but he would prefer his own. Levy, and all credit to him has backed AVB (and Baldini). Once he did this we would always be in for change. Watching us play Saturday left one with a slight feeling that we lacked a bit of player passion. No real surprise as most of the new boys had little or no EPL experience a reality amplified by the reality that we were playing our fiercest and traditional rivals.
On the subject of the new boys I would say from what we've seen so far
  • Capoue - Strong runner, fit, big.....almost Viera-like, decent passer willing to get his foot in. Probably in competition with Sandro for the deepest midfielder role.
  • Soldado - Neat, efficient, out and out striker (Defoe-like numbers in terms of touchs) Penalty area player who comes with a goal sniffers recommendation.
  • Paulhino - Strong, nice touch, competitive likes to get into penalty area and will hopefully score his share of goals
  • Chadli - Big, smooth runner with silky touch. Appears to be very calm and does little in a hurry. Hopefully will create and finish chances as he begins to fit in
  • Lamela - Brief but encouaging cameo Saturday...nice touch....not sure how wide we will play him...will depend on opposition but will usually part of a 5 person midfield rather than as an out and out attacker
  • Erikson, Vlad - not sighted yet but Youtube suggests we have bought true footballers

Will reserve judgement to christmassy time.

Concerned about letting Benni go to QPR. Our best LB is now also our best CB.

There are two slight blots in this transfer window.
  1. We got rid of BAE albeit on loan
  2. Ade stays, no back up striker comes in
BAE is a quality player and I think it should have been him and Rose fighting it out for LB but instead it's Rose and Naughton and I suppose Verts but surely he's wanted at CB.
As for Ade staying I think he's a quality player and I wanted him to stay but he seems to be frozen out big time, we now have a disenchanted player who knows he's not wanted, if he's not integrated back into the squad that leaves us with Defoe and Soldado has our strikers after spending 100 million, we still potentially have a striker problem.
