I'm writing this on the presumption that we haven't signed anyone else as it's 11pm and no real news of anyone coming in.

We've spent around £110 million this summer and broken our transfer record fee 3 times. We've also recouped pretty much the same amount making £85 million out of one very special player. We have effectively sacrificed a one man team for a squad of players. We've also managed to keep the wage bill even, perhaps even reducing it. Personally, I think that's a magnificent bit of business.

Now there are those that will say that Levy hasn't done enough because we have actually made a net spend. I think those people will be the ones that will be never satisfied with Levy or the way we handle transfers. We could have easily bought half the amount of players and not made any replacements, and in the past we have done that.

I'm very happy with the business we've done. We've added real quality to the team and depth, but now is when the real work begins. I don't believe that we have the time to wait for the players to gel as the stakes are so high. It's going to be a real test for AVB to get these boys working together. I was never under the assumption that we'd be in for a title challenge as we've still got a long way to go, but we are a step closer to achieving a top 4 finish, IMO, as long as we get this team working together.

Yes, we've still got areas we need to strengthen but this is always the case for any team. Look at Arsenal. They've made a phenomenal signing in Ozil, probably the best player to come to the Premier League this window, but all they've done is strengthen a position they're already strong in. They haven't addressed their real issues and, as a result, are still some way off being a title challenging team. We can't address every single issue in one window, however we have addressed most of them. Striker, wingers, midfielders, centre back.

I would like to see who people think will be our signing of the summer. For me it's a toss-up between Eriksen and Lamela but I've gone for the Dane as I think he'll settle in quicker and will provide that much needed creativity that we're lacking. Franco Baldini has also been a significant signing, we've really missed a man like him in charge of our transfer dealings.

Despite a very quiet deadline day this has been a great window and I'm really looking forward to seeing what we can achieve this year with such a promising young team. COYS!

Problem area left back? Fryers and Vertonghen can play there. Strikers? We have Defoe and ade still. Lennon still here as well as Townsend

Looks a pretty well Balanced squad to me!

I think we will finish lower than last year. I'm happy enough with the window bar bale leaving ( I know it's a contradiction as he facilitated all our business)

Last season teams shat themselves when we rocked up at their stadium with him on the bus.

At the moment I think we are all perspiration and no inspiration.

He was a super player . Irreplaceable

Seriously... BEST TRANSFER WINDOW EVER!

think for the next few seasons we will remember this window, where we spent over 100Mil Pounds.

Think Rose deserves a chance, he did well on loan last season. i am happy he gets a break in the first team, we will see if he can hang on to the position.

Excited about Eriksen... champions league calibure player, really hope he does well.

not too sure about Chiriches yet, but i guess we needed a player thats willing to be backup to Kaboul, Verts and Daws, so i guess he is a good signing.

Never expected us to break our transfer record 3 times in one transfer window... Really hope all 3 will be able to create magic and get us to the champions league.

but most important transfer... Baldini, he made things happen, took alot of pressure of levy. we did our business early, and i am happy.

fantastic few months..... but only time will tell if our gamble paid off.

we did exactly the right thing with Bale. If you look at the model of successful clubs that arent inherently rich, it is sell at peak value and dont factor emotion into it. We sold Bale for 12 times what we paid for him.

I'm a shit football fan in that I rarely watch any team other than Spurs so I never had any opinion about any of our signings before they came here. Judging from the hype Lamela, Eriksen, Paulinho and Soldado should be great signings and must surely make up for Bale. I'm hoping AVB can get this lot to mesh as other than a period around Christmas last season I was rarely impressed with our play. I really want us playing attractive football again, no more long balls.

How can anyone possibly be happy until we see the team settle, see how the new players perform in the premier league.

This rush to judgement every single season amazes me. You can't possibly know how good or bad this transfer window has been. OK we have had two wins, but we haven't set the world alight, and we haven't scored a single goal from open play. I haven't been impressed with what I have seen yet. Eriksen and Lamela are going to have to carry the creativity for the rest of the team as I am not seeing much so far.

I will hope and pray AVB has got it right, we will see in the next few months.

Fantastic window, if all our signings had come in at 22:55pm tonight there'd be semen everywhere.

If you're not happy with our dealings, tought titties. Now is the time for you to get behind the players that we do have. The likes of Rose and Chadli need your support more than anyone because they're the ones that people are looking to turn into scapegoats. Support your team please.

I think you negate your original sentence with that one. How can you be displeased with what you see after 3 games since we haven't seen the bigger picture? 4 brand new players and 2 returning loanees in those games. With 3 added players we'll soon see what it's all about.

I'm purely commentating on my satisfaction of how the window has gone down and saying that we're looking well set up for this season. Yes, we've got problems still but we always will. We've addressed areas that people have been clamouring for and it's unrealistic to expect us to address every single problem in one window.

Of course we've got to see how the team will settle but we've made some great signings that I wouldn't have expected us to be able to make. Soldado, Lamela and Eriksen in particular.

I agree good business but I think we still think we need a 4th striker in the mould of someone like a Benteke, Lakaku or Damiao to give us another option. Obviously if Ade hits form again then this will not be a problem. I think we have a net spend of £0 this window so I guess we can spend again if needed in January!!!

This (not sure what tought titties are, though o_O).

@OP - I agree, apart from that I will never concede that we cannot win the title until it is mathematically impossible

No, of course, as someone goes on to say, we don't know how they will gel, but I believe we have seen enough to suggest that while the gelling is happening we will be pretty difficult to beat.

Can't say too much on Lamela, except that I know a good while ago (maybe even last summer) the members who spend lots of time watching Italian football have been saying please, please, please and everything I have seen since suggests they could be right.

Very happy with the rest of the buys (yes, even Chadli ), but, to me, the stand out purchase is Ericksen. I wanted him more than Willian. He was being touted as nailed on for Barca for a long time, and we have him. Those making complaining threads, aside form being tedious beyond despair, need to realise that this lad and Holtby are two fantastic options to have for the creative midfield role, both are young but have plenty of experience, and we have barely seen Lamela yet - the creativity will come and when it does you will see Saldado to best effect.

Have to wait to say any more until tomorrow morning to see if any last minute deals or loans go through (either in or out) because I would also like to add something about the players who have stayed, but can't if we wake up in the morning and discover a quiet deal has gone through :cautious:

The point is, you can't judge the transfer window on purchases, you judge it on how the purchases perform over the coming months. As two of the players haven't played yet, it is impossible to judge at the moment. The bottom line is they are not great signings until they play great in a Spurs shirt.

We all want them to be great of course.

Fair enough, but you can still at least be pleased with who you have purchased and the ambition shown. Of course it's impossible to judge. We might find out Chadli is the best of the lot and Eriksen turns out to be a flop by the end of the season, but we can still make an estimated judgement through watching them previously and knowing what we're adding to the team because of their performances for other clubs. All I'm saying is that I'm pleased with the calibre of players we have brought in. Far exceeded my expectations at the beginning of this window.

7 internationals, most of them who could walk into plenty of Champions League sides, and we made a profit.

A darn sight better than chasing Damiao for 2 months that's for sure.

Oops, well I'd imagine they'd have something to do with nipple clamps and those vacuum jug things* that you see occasionaly on websites of ill repute.

* If you don't know what these are, you'll probably want to keep it that way.

The team is stronger overall but there is a giant Bale-sized hole in it we were never going to be able to fill. I don't think that anyone can doubt that we have gone about our business in the right way but let's not forget that we haven't spent any money. No £50M largesse from Uncle Joe, nor the extra £38M we get from the new TV deal. Not even our usual, budgeted transfer fund.

I'll give Levy credit for now but come the January window when it will be clear where our deficiencies are I won't be listening to any excuses for not spending to rectify them. No "we already bought 7 players in the summer" or "players are too expensive at this time of year" bollocks. We keep falling just short because Levy has pennypinched and not given our managers the tools to finish the job and in the end it has cost us the Champions League on several occasions. This has been a very good window for us but I feel we have missed an opportunity to make it a great one.
