I really don't get the Jumpman logo being used for anything other than Basketball, Jordan was and will always be synonymous with Basketball and putting it anything else, specifically and FOOTBALL (not soccer), shirt (not jersey) just doesn't work, makes no sense.

It's the logo of a sportswear brand. It's not a basketball brand.

I didn't say it was a basketball brand, I said it was synonymous with it. To me, it doesn't make sense to use that branding on our kit. We're not American, we have no association with Basketball, to me it doesn't sit right. Only an opinion.

Commercially it does. The Jordan brand is like "Nike premium" especially to the kids of today.

Probably why it makes no sense to me, I was a kid when MJ was playing basketball, not a brand ;)

New info on this from footyheadlines:

jordan-to-make-kits-for-london-club%20%281%29.jpg

  • The key condition is to ensure participation in the European Cups next season.
  • Jordan currently prefers Chelsea because of their influence and wider recognition as a football brand and their past success.
  • Jumpman chose London because the city is considered one of the world's fashion capitals.
  • Jordan is counting on success, as with many of PSG's collections, as well as in the field of streetwear.
  • Jordan is not considering cooperation with Liverpool, which is outfitted by Nike, due to its ownership ties with LeBron James and his brand.

I really like the Jumpman logo etc as leisure brand, and really hope it comes off with us.

I bought my lad (just turned 18 recently) a PSG x Jordan t shirt last year and think it looks smart AF on there.

Although he wears Spurs training gear etc for footy on a Saturday, him and all his mates love the Jordan gear

For the first two years of establishing the brand, PSG had the Jumpman. This is the first year the have split the logo to my knowledge. It was big news when they revealed that it would be a Jordan brand shirt deal.
The first year they wore Jumpman was 18/19 and they wore both logos. They have done so ever since.

And that's it. TO YOU. Whereas to kids growing up today it is a sportswear brand. It's not being aimed solely at you here. This a global brand that, whether you think of basketball or not, will elevate our name and brand amongst the yoof.

You're not forced to buy and wear it, either. It's just a logo at the end of the day.

Well, it should be aimed at me, the fat bloke who the shirts don't fit anyway ;)

I stand corrected.
All I’ve ever seen my nephew wear is the Jumpman Logo PSG stuff. Didnt know there was two versions of the same kit with alternate logos.

I think that speaks to the appeal of the Jumpman logo and JB. I’d love if this happens as I think it could help grow an entire new audience. PSG also does some exclusive shoes, I know they currently sell Tottenham trainers, but they do those for all teams and universities. It would be nice to have an exclusive Tottenham shoe.

As far as sponsor branding goes, we've had a man and woman in swimwear, an acronym for 'Product of New York', and a mountain lion native only to the Americas. We've had red sponsor logos on and off for 20 years now. It may even shock some to know that we've had red kits.

A silhouette of a basketball player is not the end of the world.

Agreed, there have been a few PSG Jordan’s and a whole lifestyle line too. Would be great for our club to have a Spurs Jordan 1 or 4.

Don’t get the Jordan hype. It’s trash. What’s basketball got to do with football?

Jordan brand is massive and would carry more prestige than Nike on this side of the pond.
Jordan has recently started sponsoring NFL, and college football teams as well.

Has nowt to do with basketball or the NBA. Jumpman is a lifestyle brand at Nike, and Jordan has a huge stake. It’s a massively iconic brand across the globe. Especially in places like Asia. Just not as much in the UK.

While I can see he may lean toward Chelsea right now--based on their success over the last 20 years—It would be shortsighted. Tottenham and the stadium in particular, is on an upward trajectory as a brand unto itself. Chelsea is heading the opposite way. There is a much higher revenue upside at Tottenham, versus Chelsea have already hit their ceiling. You know what you have with them as an established entity. Whereas our ceiling potentially dwarfs theirs in the long term.

Doesn’t take much brand and product marketing expertise to see that. Hopefully he has good advisors who can help illustrate the bigger picture.

One more thing we have that Chelsea lack is a face to attach to the Jumpman brand: Son.
