Good move for him. Smaller club but one on the up, progressive chairman etc. If he does well, he'll get a bigger gig in the future. He's waited for the right job to come up.
I saw a thingy a few weeks back - no idea if it was accurate - about Swansea's wage bill being 150% of their revenue. No doubt staying up, and in a decent position, might well have given them the funds to cover that. Be interesting to see what their ceiling could be in the short-term though. He hasn't picked an easy job from that perspective but I rate him as a coach.
Think this is a very shrewd move from both parties.
Michael Laudrup has been appointed the new Swansea City manager on a two-year contract.
The former Real Madrid, Barcelona and Denmark player takes over from new Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers.
Laudrup, who has previous managerial experience at Brondby, Getafe, Spartak Moscow and Real Mallorca, is Swansea's third manager in the past four years.
"I've spoken to the chairman and I'm very pleased to sign for Swansea City," he was quoted on the club's website.
Good appointment. Huw Jenkins really knows what he wants in a manager and goes out to continue that ethos - Martinez, Sousa, Rodger and now Laudrup. All young managers, and without knowing too much about Laudrup's managing style I would like to think he will continue to use the Swansea players in the way they know best.
