Obviously it’s Kane if he stays. Personally see Bissouma or Bentancur if not, if Bentancur were in tour would’ve been him.

I think we will wait till Hugo has gone before announcing a captain out of respect

Kane or Bentancur. The captain is usually an ever present, I cant think of anyone else who will be virtually guaranteed a starting place.

Those saying Romero. Has he ever done an English interview after the game? I mean, that’s gotta be something the Captain of our team should be able to do.

How I see it:
- Sauad numbers don’t have to be announced until 1st Sep
- You can have a match day captain (like HK yesterday) without a big announcement
- It would be humiliating for the club to announce Kane for him to then leave
- First few games of the season the on field captain will be the most suited (Kane if he’s playing), then on 1st sep there will be a big hoo haa about captain and squad numbers
- Personally think it’s Kane, but Son if he leaves.

All conjecture of course, but makes sense in my tiny little mind.

Actually surprised by the amount of people suggesting Son. Can be a great player bit there’s no captain there for me.

Before anyone says it, I know, he captains his country, but I think being an international captain is different from being a club captain.

I feel he’s one of those players that does better when he can just play his game.

Why the massive call for Bentacur when he's only expected to be back in November, optimally October?

Bearing in mind, it generally needs to be someone who will play each game, unless injured or rested for a lower league cup game - I can’t think who is a nailed on starter at the moment, if Kane leaves.

nailed on, imo:

Vicario
Romero
Bissouma
Maddison
Richarlison (if Kane leaves...)

Son is close to nailed on
CB signing will be close to nailed on

Really, the players likely to be rotated - FBs, CM, Kulusevski

Strange take as I find it obvious that Son will always play ahead of Richarlison be that wide or centrally

We will see.

Son is 31, and has played primarily on the left for most of his career, and is coming off a relatively down year.

Richarlison is younger, and also plays on the left, but does play as a 9 for Brazil.

If Kane leaves, I suspect Richarlison will assume his role as the #9 - as he did yesterday. Son will continue to play on the left, and occasionally be spelled by Solomon - unless Son never regains his form, in which case he could be replaced by Solomon. I think we will sign another striker to back up Richarlison.

Lets hope Kane does not leave, and is open to a new deal.

Other than Kane I have no idea who it could be, there really aren't any standout candidates IMO.

If he stays (and Kane goes) then Dier might be club captain but I can't see the circumstances arising where he'd be made team captain. But then again this is football, never write anything off.

The obvious "club captain" candidate for me would be Ben Davies over Dier.

In terms of one who'd play every week that's a lot more difficult. It would probably have to be Sonny. Next best candidates are probably Bentancur and Bissouma.

Yeah, i've read all them names but for me, none of them stand out as candidates, it's a bit desperate because who else.

I could see a case for Maddison.

Will be a mainstay in the side. He interviews well and is clearly articulate.

He's a very attacking player who mirrors what Agne is all about.

Yes he's just arrived but could see him being a good choice if he hits the ground running.
