Makes the public ruling out of Nagelsmann a couple of weeks ago even more ridiculous now. That only made sense if they were going to get Slot and knowing he did not have a clause this summer, they should have negotiated his release first before approaching him and being ready to pay more than planned. Same story about why we haven't been able to get deals for major players who ended up being a success elsewhere over the line
It’s the latest in a long line of complete PR disasters. The Paratici video done on his iPhone 6 and a selfie stick the night before his ban was bad enough! Who knows what’s next

Abso-bloody-lutely!!!

I was only just thinking exactly the same. Better off to keep your powder dry, say nothing and not fuel the fire.

Our joke of a PR dept have well and truly shot the club in the foot with that debacle!

This management search has been an epic clusterfuck.

We should have been drawing a shortlist up in the weeks leading up to Conte leaving. Our management search is so fucking reactive it's unreal. Can just imagine Levy with a tombola pulling out manager names.

Are we skint and can't afford the compo of JN or slot? The manager is the most fucking important person in a team yet we seem unwilling to pay.

Our recent management searches have been a fucking embarrassment and have hurt the club.

Even if we go to JN it's going to look so much like the Nuno/conte fiasco.

Bless all the folk mentioning Gallardo still, I honestly and genuinely don’t think Levy has any idea who Gallardo is, or that he even exists.

Honestly though you can feel it’s Brendan can’t you… just, if you think of the most Levy/Spurs thing that could happen at this point, it’s just Brendan.

I think he is a good Manager, someone who has proven himself - the issue I have is that it really is such a dull, boring, mundane and uninspiring 'signing'. He is a good manager, but not good for us at this time given how low we are as a club. Its enough to stab yourself in the eye type managerial choice.

For me, this feels infinitely worse than the 2021 debacle. 🙁

Correct me if I’m wrong — perhaps I’ve just repressed the entire saga — but did we ever come properly close to signing someone we were all excited about? I know there were links with Conte and ten Hag but didn’t seem as close as Slot

The very clear press briefing on this issue was the only thing that got my hopes up about Slot. I thought that his appointment must have surely been a done deal if they were so clearly pushing a narrative that the presumptive favourite wasn’t actually in the running, leading up to Slot’s announcement.

Christ almighty, what in the world were they thinking?
Complete amateur hour!

It was so obvious you’d have to be a complete plonker to not see through it for what it was.

It would be a good match in at least the terms that we currently have an unlikeable team, why not have an unlikeable manager too.

I can just almost feel it, months from now, we’ve just lost 2-0 to someone and we get a post match interview with Brendan, referring to himself in the third person, saying it’s all going to be ok due to the lessons he learnt from the time he backpacked with some monks up Mount Tipeedebu. Off screen, someone is creating another oil painting in his likeess for him to take home…

It’s just such a Spurs thing to do now.

I've not been able to follow this thread, is there a consensus forming as to what caused the deal to collapse? If it was really down to Levy's unwillingness to pay a few million in compensation to Feyenoord, it's a fucking farce.

I'm not denying we're a shambles , we are.

But there's afew posters showing themselves up as having a real lack of knowledge on some of the remaining candidates.

If all you see in Postecoglu is 'some Australian bloke'and Amorim as 'only 4th in portugal' then do some research.
I think there’s more to the negativity than that. I think it’s very clear we are on to our third candidate by now and that in itself is hardly inspiring.

I think if we had decided on Amorim or Postecoglou from the outset fans would be more inclined to look favourable upon them.

Furthermore whilst I agree they shouldn’t be dismissed as much as they currently are personally im not as wild about them as I am to those previously linked.

Amorim whilst high pressing and being much more attacking then Conte is still a pragmatic manager. Personally at this point I feel we need a complete change and even if he isn’t the same as Conte he is still has a balanced philosophy rather than an attacking one.

Postecoglou on the other hand does have a philosophy that’s more in line with what we should be going for but his age and experience does raise a few questions.

One should also mention Enrique as well who has also been heavily looked down upon. Considering he has been on our list from the start, even if he is currently being linked to Napoli and PSG, he isn’t any worse an option at this point.

I think most fans will eventually come round to the idea of one of the above once Slot isn’t so fresh. We as Spurs fans are nothing if not resilient but in moments like this it’s hard to see anything positive. Really I think most know now that it won’t even matter who we bring in as Levy clearly has no intention of changing.

I’m also sure once the glowing reports of the aforementioned managers start making their way onto this thread fans will view them much more positively. Negativity is rife at the moment and it’s not surprising that is spilling over to the other candidates. For me personally, whilst I could get behind all three of those managers, knowing Nagelsmann and Gallardo are both sat there and available just taints the entire process as to me they are a few levels above all of them.

It’s blindingly obvious what Levy needs to do now.

Go. Get. Nagelsmann.

Hire a DOF who both Munn and JN can work with.

Fuck off to the Bahamas for a year or two.

Seems PSG wants Enrique
It’s incredible that there is such a clear pathway to land Nagelsmann but our club weirdos can’t make it happen

I get the fact that Nagelsmann wants more control but so what ?

“Yes, Daniel? It’s Donna. They’ve officially given up. We are good to move forward with Brendan.”

Don't think thats the issue pal, we have had 2 available managers we wanted. One we spoke to and then we came out and said he wasn't being spoken to yet he was clesrly on all our journos list prior to JN turning us down for one reason or another.

Slot then is too expensive. Am sorry but regardless you pay what you need to get your man, we waste a lot of money on awful players.

The guy wanted us and we blew that. Same old same old.

Nothing to do with the backups in anyway am afraid. Its our constant inability to do what we need to when we should do.
