I ask the question again: Why was the club trying to get Pochettino back in 2021 when he was under contract at PSG but not interested seemingly now he is a free agent?

What has changed between then and now? He's not become a worse manager and we've not become a better team.
Hitchin had Levy’s ear at the time. The grand leader is very prone to being led by the sycophants in his court. At the moment it seems it’s Paratici.

Supposedly this is from an 1 on 1 interview with Dutch ESPN. He also said his dream was to work in the PL apparently.

I really want Slot. More than any other manager for me. Just think he can build something here and he might bring back some joy with his demeanor, the style of play and presumably his willingness to trust youth. Also, the puns.

Ties in with Hotspur88 ITk about Slot “actively wanting the job” and his stance on Poch eyeing up the Madrid job (because from the outside, an immediate appointment of Poch seems like the obvious move, and yet he is still unemployed)

I agree. If we really wanted Poch it would have happened quickly - like it did when we appointed Jose after him.

Could be as simple as Poch having eyes for the Madrid job now.

Could be a feeling within the club that a bigger change is required and a new approach - in Poch, Mourinho and Conte we have tried three elite level coaches and have not managed to win anything....maybe we have learned from these experiences and want to try something different. ...in fact you could argue that our biggest success came with Poch coming in as a promising but not yet fully established coach who had a hunger and desire to prove himself. Maybe the club sees that now and wants to try and replicate it.

Oh it wont be that quick.
We'll drag our heels off loading players. Then bring in some cheap bargains that the new coach may not even want. Then about 2 weeks before the season starts after all the coaches we wanted have gone elsewhere, we'll appoint Ted Rogers.
THIS IS THE WAY.
I HAVE SPOKEN ;)

I think we'll all be absolutely shocked if this doesnt turn into a total clusterfuck.
Every other recent decision has so why change?
So true mate. The hope has been beaten out of me the last few years.
I'm refusing to watch another game to we get a new manager and the same players that let the team and manager down the last few years has gone.

I really had not heard or come across much of Slot until we were linked and we were told about our real interest in him by those in the know. The more I see, hear and read about him the more I am impressed with him as a coach and person.

I think the "next summer" bit might be a clue to his thoughts though. Its not "this summer" is it?

Does that not mean next summer, rather than this summer though?
I don't know how old his kids are but maybe they've got an important year coming up, then he'll be prepared to go?

Although I still think that he can be persuaded if the money is right.
Yeah I do wonder on the timing, the Dutch correspondent on TalkSport last week was saying he's likely to move next summer as 'this summer Feyenoord can ask whatever they want and will be very expensive, they already turned down £5m from Leeds earlier this season.'

But like you say, money talks, and £5m+ for us probably not a deal breaker.
