The players are what got us into this position. They have failed under 2 serial winners. Whether they are on board or not shouldn't matter. The best person for the job should get it.
He dropped Dier for 1 game if I remember correctly... is that enough to convince you he's the right man for the job ? ... Dier will be back soon again. Trust me...Whether they are onboard or not shouldn't matter??
Squad management not your thing then?
You're speaking as if we are going to sell and buy 15 players this Summer.
He dropped Dier that alone convinces me he is the man for the job.

We need fresh eyes from outside the club IMO...
Over a longer period of games I would agree... but hey, Mason only has a couple of games anyway. So fair enoughI don't think you should underestimate what that small action actually conveys.
It conveys to me that Palace play with a variety of pacey, interchanging forwards that interchange and not an out and out CF. I’ll believe it when I see this against Brentford, Leeds and maybe Villa.I don't think you should underestimate what that small action actually conveys.
The defence performed much better without him so I am not convinced he will do.He dropped Dier for 1 game if I remember correctly... is that enough to convince you he's the right man for the job ? ... Dier will be back soon again. Trust me...

Does everybody who has never been a first team manager have the ability then? I do keep repeating that point for a reason ya know. This is crazy. You could say that about anybody who's never been a first team manager. Madness
Remember Bill Nicholson. Burkinshaw just came from the coaching staff. If all the players are on board with Ryan Mason he should get the job in my opinion.
Our best player in generations came from within why not our best manager.
I didn't necessarily mean confrontational, but there has to be a balance of power. That can come from reputation, experience, achievement, as well as circumstances - Mourinho for example was weaker than Conte in bringing Levy to account because he really wanted the job and no doubt told him that he could make this current squad sing. Conte was honest about the situation from the beginning to the end, and while I didn't always appreciate the football, I did appreciate Levy and the wider world being told some home truths about the state of the club.Fundamentally disagree. The best managers here built a rapport with Levy, and worked with him rather than trying to poke him all the time. If we get another confrontational manager like Conte it will just be the same result.
That’s why Kompany would have been interesting to me before he signed his contract. He’s the type of person I could see Levy being quite starstruck around and he could have used that to get in his ear and and in his head.

So you think Levy should check that the players are happy with who the next manager is? The players should not be involved in selecting the manager. They are here to do a job and are paid well to do so. It shouldn't matter if they like the manager or not.Whether they are onboard or not shouldn't matter??
Squad management not your thing then?

All the players that have been lambasted as not good enough or sacrificed in the ‘patient rebuild’ ? I’m not sure having players we do not want to keep around wanting Mason is a coherent rationale for him getting appointed. That’s not a reason why he shouldn’t but it’s not a huge plus point in my eyes.If all the players are on board with Ryan Mason he should get the job in my opinion.

Do we know if Ryan has the ability? I guess until he has a go at a job you will never know.Does everybody who has never been a first team manager have the ability then? I do keep repeating that point for a reason ya know.
No, but I'm not saying he is or he isn't because I don't know the answer to that. That'll have to be decided by those that know more about him and his experiences than I do. I was initially replying to a post that said "he isn't good enough" which sparked this whole conversation off.Do we know if Ryan has the ability? I guess until he has a go at a job you will never know.
Just because he can coach doesn't mean he will be a good manager.
You think JN is as much of a risk for us succeeding as mason? We have just had 2 ELITE managers who couldn't do it with our club and yet we still have some amongst us that think if we get the best out there with fancier football they will lead us to the promised land.
They say the definition of madness is.....
For what and where we are as a club we need a unifier, a club man to extract the maximum out of what we have and after listening and observing I like the cut of Mason's gib.
Naggelsmann and Slot have never played or managed in our league before, have not a sliver of affiliation with our club and will be just as much of a gamble as Ryan Mason.
We have the added bonus that he is best buddies with our generational captain who is coming to the end of his contract and he knows Levy more than anyone.
Carlos Kickaball always seems better though.
Oh and fuck Twitter fans when it comes to making football decisions
P.S Levy ain't leaving any time soon.

They're on board, until they aren't. Players flip-flopping performances all over the shop. Get the under-performers performing, so they're in the window come the summer. If all the players are on board with Ryan Mason he should get the job in my opinion.
