as long as they dont play 7 holding players like weve had to watch for the last 3 years they can have as long as they want.Regardless of who it eventually ends up being, can we agree they should be allowed at least two full pre-seasons (and the accompanying transfer windows, however they may fall) before any serious judgements start being made?
And the club should not listen to them. If clubs made decisions based on fan opinion Arteta would have been incorrectly sacked in September 2021. Poch is not the right pick right now, he's just the easy choice as he's what everyone knows and loves.Match going fans made opinions clear. For all the opinions on here, I think majority of match going fans would want Poch back given a choice
Poch was burnt out. The Champions League run masked the league form, which went right off a cliff second half of that season after the Burnley game. And that league form continued into the next one, which I believe ended with a home defeat to Sheffield United of all teams. The league form justified his sacking, even if it hurt to see him go.
Son doesnt run in behind anymore he just runs backwards and comes to feet constantly. As trix said he isn't good at winning the ball back so effectively asking him to come to the ball and be in defensive shape constantly is pointless. When was the last time you saw kane on the ball with Son bombing in behind? that created chaos for everyone but it just doesnt happen now. Take the shackles off him and get him on the shoulder of the last defender and you will see the old Son.I’m no tactical expert but think that Son can’t play with Perisic. It can’t be coincidence that Son’s decline coincides with Perisic’s arrival.
I can only speak for myself, but at the time I felt we needed someone to take us up to the next level and over the line with trophies. So I understood why Mourinho was brought in. In hindsight, which is an amazing thing, it didn't work (though I still feel he should have had the cup final and then go if we lost it). I was of the thought that we needed a win now manager, because the squad Poch had was reaching that stage. It had developed and just needed that final push. Of course it has blown up in our faces looking back, but I do get why Levy went down the route he did at the time.Worst decision about all that was to appoint Mourinho in his place. You talk about clubs like Brighton who build on the foundations they've already cemented (Potter --> RDZ), we decided to do away with it all overnight.

Now with the infamous painful rebuild, we need that project manager again who has the patience to work with and develop the players and squad. Brighton as has been mentioned countless times over the past couple of days have a recruitment structure in place where by anyone who comes in, it should be somewhat seamless as long as the manager and players fit the profile. That's something we haven't had. We have gone from DOF to no DOF to DOF. We have had project managers, win now managers, attacking managers, high press managers, defensive and counter attack managers.
We lost our identity and that is something which now is the best time to be addressed with the Paratici situation as well. We have the chance to start again.
Honestly, people creaming themselves on here over managers who haven't shown 1/100th the ability Poch has. Debating whether he's good enough for us when the biggest barrier to bringing him back is the fact that other, much better teams want him too, it's ridiculous.god forbid we sing the praise of the most competent manager in our modern era
Worst decision about all that was to appoint Mourinho in his place. You talk about clubs like Brighton who build on the foundations they've already cemented (Potter --> RDZ), we decided to do away with it all overnight.
That's Lee Child's brother. We should have promoted Antonio's bro. It’s like one of those popular book series (“Lee Child”) where the author retires and they get someone to carry on the series but the new writer is mediocre so the books are on the same lines as before but just a bit crappier.
Levy should have bitten the bullet and given Mason the job.
And we’re About to lose a generational strikerSmash that big, red, flashing RESET button. No better time.
It almost feels like fate. Manager gets sacked, DoF is about to be imprisoned, Owners with half an eye on selling, squad at the end of their lifecycle.
Now or never!

We didn’t need the final piece of the jigsaw in 2019. Poch’s Spurs has already peaked and were in decline. They missed their shot at glory. Most people were surprised we were even in with a shot. That’s why Mourinho didn’t work. The squad needed work. Mourinho and Conte need a finished product, whether they buy or inherit it. Poch had earned a chance to build again. Instead he was binned and Levy stubbornly refused to rebuild, instead continued to wring every last drop out of a bone dry squad. And then when players did leave their replacements were downgrades. It’s a complete fucking shambles and Levy should go for it. If he was an employee instead of a shareholder he’d already be gone.I can only speak for myself, but at the time I felt we needed someone to take us up to the next level and over the line with trophies. Absolutely true. The managers have constantly been picking out of form, lazy/selfish/whatever players. Kulu is without a doubt in my mind equally as poor as Son this season. I know he's had a few niggling injuries, but we've seen absolutely nothing from him when he's played. Whoever we get as a new manager must be one who picks on merit and doesn't suffer lacklustre performances. For all the talk about Son, Kulusevski is as bad as him right now. With the ball he's been worked out a bit, and his defensive efforts are as shockingly bad as we see on the other side.
There was one phase of play last night first half - Everton worked the ball to the edge of the area and got a shot away at Lloris - where Hojbjerg got dragged across to the left to cover Son, Skipp had to follow him, Kulu then at any point only has to move 5-10 yards to get back in line with them and fill the space. He just stands there watching hands on hips, Everton eventually work the ball across our midfield two to the extra man, and get the shot away.
Amongst a lot that went wrong last night, this was the laziest fucking action from a Spurs shirt all match and we talk about standards.... well any manager could and probably should have hauled him off instantaneously for not giving a flying fuck and sending out a message.
Say what you want about the faults in our team..... But the number one priority for a new manager is to get consistency of work rate. At the moment we have three up front especially where they think defending and working back are optional and you're not going to get away with that. Against eg. City you know you'll get all hands to the pump and defend properly, most other weeks they see it as optional. For the next guy his task is getting it most if not every week and one tight unit that will work for each other - whether we set up 5-4-1 counter, 4-3-3 high press, whatever. At the top level even the most talented on paper - PSG of today, Galaticos-era Madrid - have found you don't often get away with circa three passengers in the frontline who leave the dirty work to others. Why should that be any different at Tottenham?
Definitely not a bright idea is it!Why is everyone talking about Son in the next manager thread! I don't think he's an option...
Of course not. 100% has enough credit in the bank and deserves a chance with a new manager. That said if a big enough offer came in he isn't getting any younger.I agree, doesn't mean you sell him though.
Considering the way we played last night and that we probably aren’t appointing anyone until June im sure it will get a lot worse then Son for manager. Why is everyone talking about Son in the next manager thread! I don't think he's an option...
