You never know, it might be back on this afternoon.
Decided to look at it with a bit of positivity.

Also suddenly dawned on me there is a possibility that just like in 2021, we could end up with the Wolves manager!!

you must be new here.

we need to petition whoever we need to for a change in 'murphy's law' definition to 'spursy's law'

You can but there is a big difference here. RDZ knows from the off he was first choice and that he will get the backing he wants, because Brighton wanted him and made him their priority. Mangers aren't stupid and know that clubs will have spoken and wanted numerous managers ahead of them, and that they are an after thought because we are getting desperate. It's how we ended up with Nuno. I keep saying it but this interviewing process is bullshit. It's not like appointing a cashier for Tesco ffs. Managers, like players have to feel wanted if they are top of the food chain. You have to sell the idea to them not the other way around. I know enough people in the game(agents etc) to know this is the case.

Top clubs head hunt their managers, not advertise for them on Indeed.

Not disagreeing with this at all, just wouldn't discount Ange because Celtic were a bit rubbish in a tough CL group. The overall managerial search is a shit-show (again) and that comes from the top.

Appointing a man who has a history of his tenures unravelling spectacularly at a club with a history of its managers tenures unraveling spectacularly seems a great fit, no?
To be fair to him its only unraveled at leicester because they fucked their FFP and he couldnt adequately replace anyone they sold. Fortunately we have 400m to play with in our ffp unfortunately we still wont adequately replace anyone he sells because well Daniel Levy.

God I hope that Slot was the smokescreen for Nagel....
Levy will call a presser, come out with someone hidden behind a curtain and announce I have heard the crowd and listened to my fellow Yids and now i give to you our new manager/coach...

and at the same time as pulling the rope to unveil our new coach...

Levy "Nigel's mum"
and reveal some old woman dunking biscuits in a cup of tea looking bewildered. :cautious:
Still be better than Conte though ;)

If Slot is the right manager who aligns with our aim to play football the correct way we should go after him, pay the compensation and get the club back on track. We have recent history of paying far more for players who prove to be poor or underused where a managers appointment is absolutely crucial

Pay the money and get him in. Let's get the club on the right path now with a manager who we want

Mate as things stand I think we just have to hope Levy gets lucky like he did with MP.

Was Postecoglou rumoured to be Brighton's first choice before they got De Zerbi? That in itself is a big endorsement

Him, Kjetil Knutsen and Marcelo Gallardo. We should talk with all of them and check the vibe.
I'm personally a bit uncertain about Postecoglou after seeing how Knutsen's team was far better coached when they met and played them off the park.
Celtic's results haven't been the best in UEFA under him.

Yep Big Ange the only one left that could get excited about really.

Cannot believe this, really thought we’d get Slot done, ffs 🤦‍♂️ 😔

To be fair this is why loads on here have been worrying as it’s never straight forwards with us.

Big Ange would be good but not real links with him, JN but that’s seemingly off the table, De Zerbi no chance, Amorim meh not for me and no where near as exciting football or as likeable and fun as Slot would’ve been, then we are down to the likes of L.Enrique, Rodgers, Potter, T.Frank etc.

Only other exciting one would be Gallardo but again no links.

Big Ange next up for me is Slot is off the table 😢 but if Slot is off then anyone else for me is a big step down / disappointment, he was the one just like Ten Haag was the one in summer 2021.

🤨😬
For whatever it’s worth, Harry Brooks said Ange over Slot for him. Greater variety of goals scored. Not that we’ll get him, either…

And to think we had a head start on all this, they knew Conte was off at the end of the season, glad to see all that planning and discovery paying off

I was willing to give the benefit of the doubt up until now. But we’re now scrabbling around for third and fourth choices.

The club simply had to get it right this time. If Slot is first choice then just pay the money.

Can’t see anything expect disaster from here on out. Gonna be looking for a new boss in November again probably.
You have been pretty level headed through the whole thing Tbf!

Every time I think we hit rock bottom we sink further. I do understand as if you say Slot is first choice why you don’t pay up. Even if it is a slightly inflated figure

Thinking about big ange - looking at the signings he made at Celtic (appreciating it's a different level of player), he may be more open to different player markets, something this club desperately needs to try. I would love for spurs to be more open to trying players from different leagues, like how Brighton seem to do.

No point trying to justify it mate. I've been very vocal all along that Slot wanted to come but already a few comments on here laughing at what I've said because apparently now he was never interested. I'll say it one last time for everyone, SLOT WAS VERY KEEN ON JOINING US!
Too many clues from different directions especially the bit about managing in Holland in 2 years yet he is talking about an extension. it has to be face saving. probably came down to the existing contract left us with little leverage (little Levy rage?)

At what point do we declare this a more miserable search than last year's?

If we appoint Rodgers I don't think I'm gonna bother next year. I feel really bad for steering my kids to Tottenham.
I know Rodgers comes over as a bit of a prat but he has achieved as much, if not more, than Poch ever did.
it fell apart at Leicester, but it also fell apart with Poch,
I just want someone who can give us decent football.
clubs don’t always get first choices. We didn’t get Van Gaal which turned out ok.
Newcastle were on the verge of appointing Unai Emery, he ducked out and they got Howe.

I’m starting to wonder if there’s a managers WhatsApp group and they’re just taking it in turns now…
I take it a step further, a tv show called The Only Way is Tottenham. All the managers, coaches and agents are the main cast, mixed in with Tottenham officials where they bitch, gossip, scheme and laugh behind levy’s back.
