I want to do this but it's effort. There's an existing table made by people on reddit but I think it's quite inaccurate.

It would be pretty difficult to keep up-to-date and you'd have to have a think about what areas you'd be scoring sources in

The first website/person to do this well though, would probably make a fortune (y)

Could just be a basic Traffic Light (Red, Amber, Green) type deal for starters, or a score from 1 to 10.

Yes but for each transfer? Record what he says and check to see it comes off. Then judge overall? Pain in the arse.

Just treat all information as rumour. If it comes off nice. If it doesn't fair enough.

Sorry, I don't mean that

What I mean is that each source might get scored for (i) a club looking for a certain position (ii) clubs talking to each other (iii) a player spotted somewhere (iv) terms agreed (v) medical done, etc, etc

Essentially each piece of information would be worth a certain number of points, once verified

Plus, there would have to be a score for who reported what first

Verifying information usually comes after the fact as well, so the source would be living on their reputation from a few months (or years) ago

First let me get this started by saying IMO this is just paper talk and I don't think this will happen. The Roma fans that I speak to are optimistic that he will be there at the start of this season (and so is the Italian press for the most part) and it also seems that we are prioritizing CMs and not AMs this window.

My family has a residence in Rome that I spend a lot of time in each year. I try to catch a few games at the Stadio Olimpico each season but watch a lot of AS Roma. I can tell you that in my opinion this kid is talented and Roma fans love him. At age 19 last season he was a physical specimen, towering over defenders and outmuscling them in the box. I call him the Italian Dele because his skillset and playstyle is VERY similar to Dele's. He's at his best when he's playing behind a striker(s) as essentially a second striker. He makes very intelligent runs in the box and can use his body to win balls in the air and hold up defenders for other attacking players. He linked up especially well with Dzeko and makes clever passes in the final third like Dele (dinks and through balls). He's also a great finisher from inside the box, a very capable dribbler, but lacks elite top speed. Like Dele, Zaniolo (and Roma) also had a season of ups and downs. Zaniolo only was able to play his preferred position (behind the striker) 8 times, in which he scored 4 goals. Due to Roma's formation changes (switching to a 4-3-3 and similar variations with 3 attackers upfront) and their attempt to accommodate injured players, he was often deployed as a wide forward, a RM, and a CM, none which are best suited to his attributes (or Dele's).

If we sign him, it's a pretty sure sign to me we don't plan on using a 4-3-3 as it is does not suit players like Dele and Zaniolo and we will likely be using a formation with a distinguished role for a #10 or second striker, whether it be our 4-1-2-1-2 diamond with Dele and Zaniolo competing for a spot behind the striker OR even a 4321 or 4231. I also think signing Zaniolo would mean that we see him as Dele's competition and Lamela as an option on the left of a midfield three (effectively a backup for one of GLC or Ceballos) or we plan to sell him.

Thank you for posting this mate, good to hear from someone who has actually watched a lot of these players and knows their stuff.

Arsenal are rumored to be sniffing about on this one. No one takes them seriously though.

Thanks mate. Good write up. Adds context rather than just a YouTube vid alone.

Assuming this is BS unless something comes out about Lo Celso or Ceballos being off. I find it very hard to believe we will sign all three in addition to Sessegnon and potentially another forward.

This is an odd one, he seemed to have had a mixture of excellent and poor performances for Roma last season. I just don’t see how he fits into the English game never mind our team. In the front 3 we need goals, someone to compliment Kane and Son, not another Lamela (ps love his work rate but he’s not a goal scorer).

I think it's quite obvious it's 2 of the 3, if this link is even real.

Think about it why are they holding off on Lo Celso l?
Probably to give offers strong enough to be interesting but not enough to finish the deal. They are keeping it hot to figure out the Eriksen conundrum
Zaniolo is cheaper and a good buy if we keep Eriksen or we sell Eriksen.
Its logical

We are clearly lining up a number of players to cover a similar creative need. It has been obvious for the last few seasons that we lack creativity in the final third and it seems that we are finally trying to address it.

For me, we need it whether Eriksen stays or not. We simply don't create enough clear cut chances and rely too much on width, percentage crosses or individual skill to score.

If we are to close the gap on city and pool we absolutely have got to get more guile in the final third.

Lamela did very well in Italy when he played there. That’s why we bought him. Maybe a return to Serie A is just what he needs to revive his career and Roma would be a great destination for him. Roma would be getting a player of obvious talent that has succeeded in Italy when he played there.

A deal that involves Zaniolo to Spurs and Lamela to Roma might make a lot of sense to all parties...

This guy is going to be an absolute star

Interesting you say that, because I have to say I'm not totally convinced he will be.

To be doing that well at his age shows he has talent, but against the very best I don't think he'll get the time on the ball he needs when in possession, and when running off it, his pace could be an issue.

Time will tell, he's certainly got plenty of talent, but I can't quite make my mind up about him - probably because he doesn't naturally fit into any modern player archetype, so more difficult for me to make a direct comparison.

I think this link feels unlikely though and if I were him I'd stay in Italy a little longer
