Tottenham are using AS Roma's interest in Niko Kranjcar to discuss the availability of Mirko Vucinic.
Kranjcar's agent confirmed contact with Roma over the unsettled Croatia international midfielder last week.
And Rome sources say Spurs have quickly made contact about setting up negotiations to bring Vucinic to London in a swap deal.
Vucinic was ready to move to White Hart Lane in January, only for the then Roma coach Claudio Ranieri to block the move.
The Montenegro international remains hopeful of playing in the Premier League next season.
