I'm damn proud of our Spurs!

We may not get the 'Holy Grail' that is Champions League footy next year but we've shown yet again that we're a side not to be taken lightly.

AVB has done a stellar job considering it's his first season. He's had to overcome media pressure when he took the job after his humiliation at Chelsea. Had big boots to fill - even if you're not a Redknapp fan, you can't deny that he really did well during his tenure. AVB has also had to deal with a squad depleted of creativity from the loss of Modric and VDV, and in return not had a lot of financial backing in order to rectify this. He's come into the team with a new vision and philosophy and worked hard to implement this. It hasn't helped that we've missed Kaboul all season, Sandro half the season and that our strikers have been woeful this year. I think he's done brilliantly all things considered and I really hope Levy backs him this summer so that we can fully achieve our potential next year.

On the subject of transfers though, it hasn't been all bad. We've discovered excellent talents in Dembele, Vertonghen and Lloris. Hopefully we can add more players of their calibre in the summer.

We've seen Bale become a real dominant force in the Premier League and, as a result, will raise the profile of our club. It's great to have a star like him at the team and a privelage to watch him however long he remains here.

We've had our best run in the Europa League in a long time. Had some great results this season in the league - finally beating United at Old Trafford being a massive highlight for me.

We could equal or even beat our highest points record, which IMO, shows that we're not a club going backwards and we're on the right track. It just shows how much harder it gets every bloody year, but considering we're competing with mega-bucks teams and other clubs with huge reputations/history it's not a bad job at all!

And who knows - by this Sunday we might even be celebrating what may seem the impossible! But even if it doesn't happen it's been another great season for the Spurs and I bloody well look forward to the next chapter in AVB's Spurs career.

The players and manager have done very well.

But Levy has cost us CL again. Failure to land a striker in Jan or get our players in earlier in the summer cost us...again.

I agree with OP - But we should have beat Arsenal to forth.

Arsenal are a very soft bunch when put under any pressure. Look at tonight they were in trouble until McManaman went off.

Fulham game was a killer for us

Hold up Rich, I think I may have found a thread from 2009 in General Chat where you haven't used that line.

I just feel all these comebacks and late goals can't be for nothing. Logic would tell us that the Arse have it wrapped up now but it just seems it might be our turn to have the last laugh.

Completely agree, although we didn't exactly discover the likes of Dembele, Vertonghen or Lloris, they were all very well known and stars in their own right before we even went in for them (I wanted us to sign Lloris 4 years ago).

However with the cards he was dealt AVB has had a cracking first season in charge and shown he is the right man for the job, now if we can add some depth in the form of a creative midfielder, cover for Lennon/Bale and a decent striker and get Kaboom and the beast back to full fitness for the start of the season I think there is much to be optimistic about.

Yeah true, they were well known. I was just trying to make a point that, amidst all the bullshit we get from posters saying how we don't strengthen the squad enough or don't buy good enough players, we have, for the most part, made some fucking good acquisitions this year.

greatest thing about this season is spurs seem to have grown a pair. long gone are the days if we conceded first then you may as well turn off the tv or leave the stadium. I now fully expect us to fight to the final whistle. a little bit more creativity and incisiveness upfront and we will improve next year

Agreed, some great signings and in Lloris I genuinely believe we have one of the top 5 goalkeepers in world football, who says we don't get world class players! o_O

i'm a proud Spurs supporter of 42yrs and will be till they nail the final nail in my coffin.

we are going to finish higher than i expected, though in someways if we fail to get CL i wished i had been right. without EL, even though i wanted to win it and will next season if in it, i honestly believed without the extra fixtures we would really benefit from it next season.

AvB has done a great job, hope Levy backs him, and hope he is with us for many years to come.

good luck to the boys on Sunday, hope we achieve our highest points tally, and hope Newcastle can at least put in a preformance that means if we fail, it wasn't cause they roll over and die

use UL to blood the youngsters and keep those on the fringes of the first team fit and sharp. this will mean the first team can concentrate on finishing as high as possible. we will have a better idea if the youngsters can make it by seeing them play competitive european football than we would in the u21 league.

Just a question, have you been going to spurs for 42 years or are you 42 years old? or are you 50 and have been supporting spurs since you were 8? I always wonder when people write this?

surely AvB would of done that this season, but he put out a strong side in it, to try and win it. he will do the same next season, and if we go on to win it id be very happy, but he might need to get top 4 too or Levy might not give him another chance.

i really think our youngsters would have a good chance to get us at least through the group stages with 4-5 players from first team squad in there along side them

got my 1st Spurs top when i was 6, went to my 1st ever game when i was 9

unfortunately i don't go so much now, 1 due to cost, 2 due to a disability.

and i can't count cause im now 49 ooops only just though. it could of been so different as i was born just down the road from Arscum, but even after what they have achieved i'm still glad of my choice

ps by way you don't fancy a game of golf 1 day do you, though i need a buggy
