We have made progress and I'm sure we will continue to do so with the acquisition of a few more quality players.

There's certainly more pressure on Arsenal than us going in to Sunday's game, we can live with another Europa campaign, Arsenal will take a massive hit if they find themselves 5th.

Immensely impressed we've come this far under Boas in such a short space of time though, this season, after losing vdV and Modric, was always going to be one of transition and I was really worried how we'd fare under AVB, but he's made a believer of me and happy no matter where we finish after Sunday.

Well no matter what its been a good season for Tottenham.

We can't stand on our laurels though because I feel teams around us will invest heavily for next season so it is vital we improve regardless if we make CL or not in fact I'd say we'd need to spend more if we don't make CL obviously within our budget.

I don't see anything other than an Arsenal win at St JP which means it will be Europa for us again next season which for me isn't so bad, the competition should be taken seriously and any trophy option is good for our club.

I would like us to win that Europa trophy if we are in it next season. What a lift it would be to lift some silverware!

At the start of the season i really thought we'd get 6th or 5th at a push. Its turned out better than i expected but i am very disapointed at the same time. Its not the lack of quality that i thought that will probably give us 5th, its the apparent lack of need and overall atitude plus simple problems e.g set pieces. If we had missed out on 4th but the players had given it their all every game, then i would be content but the fact that we have let some simple points slip away down to lack of attitude and basic footballing skills (again, set pieces), has realy frustrated me...again.

I will be giving the lads my full support come sunday but i pray avb will be able to change up next season.

i'm a proud Spurs supporter of 42yrs and will be till they nail the final nail in my coffin.

we are going to finish higher than i expected, though in someways if we fail to get CL i wished i had been right. without EL, even though i wanted to win it and will next season if in it, i honestly believed without the extra fixtures we would really benefit from it next season.

AvB has done a great job, hope Levy backs him, and hope he is with us for many years to come.

good luck to the boys on Sunday, hope we achieve our highest points tally, and hope Newcastle can at least put in a preformance that means if we fail, it wasn't cause they roll over and die

Agrred on all of that. I am also pleased with the way our teams plays, with (mostly) sportsmanship, integrity and some flair along the way.

The players and manager have done very well.

But Levy has cost us CL again. Failure to land a striker in Jan or get our players in earlier in the summer cost us...again.

Get your smelly negativity out of this thread.

I agree, and again, if we miss out on 4th this year it will be our own fault.

Having said that, I like AVB as a bloke and I'll be backing him for the forseeable.

Having been a loyal supporter since 1958 this team fills me with so much pride.
The early sixties were great but due to misfortune we never fulfilled the promise that we had and in fact under achieved.
Despite since then seeing many worl class players I havent seen a eam sinve 87 which fills me with so much hope for the future.
69 or 72 points will be a super effort with the resources at hand.
How many teams could have lost players such as KIng , Modric, VDV, and suffered long term injuries to two key players , Kaboul, and Sandro, and still be challenging for a top four place like we are. The future is bright, yes it will be even brighter if we gain CL status, but as long as we keep Bale get Kaboul and Sandro fit and manage to add to this squad a new left back, creative midfielder and a top class striker then we will be right up there challenging for the title.
Despite all the world class players we have had since the sixties this is the first time I have been filled with such confidence and furthermore for the first time since Burkinshaw I feel we have a manger who can not only create great team spirit but is tactically aware enough to get us there. All we need is some added support from the board and we can do it.

Should we win on Sunday I think (and correct me if I'm wrong) it will be the highest ever points total that hasn't finished in 4th place. Mitigate that with the losses of key players, a new coach with new ideas and you can only come to the conclusion that this has been an excellent season.

Some won't though, they will judge the season on the outcome (i.e 5th place) not the reality that most seasons this points tally walks into 4th place.

Hello Adrian Durham and the TALKsport cronies...
What a load of wankers. We should laugh at the drivel that they blurt. Durham is an agent provacateur and will sprout any rubbish just to start a debate thats what hes paid for. The one who really anoys me is Quinn. A useless footballer a disgrace as a race horse trainer who cant string three words together to make a coherent sentance. Why they employ a moron like him is beyond me as he is incapable of taking part in any sensible debate. For all his faults Durham has got a brain and can hold his own in a debate.

Remind me did Harry's QPR finish above AVBs Spurs this season...?
"Yeah, but he had a mismash, all the squad weren't good enough, they won't even be good enough to get promoted from the Championship, not even the ones that Harry bought...Wait, er, one sec..."

Some good steps forward, AVB has showed himself to be a competent coach, with a couple of signings I think we'll be in fantastic shape for next season.

Even without signings, there is reason to be optimistic. Adebayor can't be as bad next season as he was this season, the last two games have shown what he is capable of. Townsend has shown he is a Premier League player, Kaboul and Sandro will be fit, Lloris will be in goal from the start and we wont have the press kicking up a storm about it. Gallas will have moved on, Holtby will find his true role in the side, and Dembele will be able to rest that hip.
