The only semi-fair way of playing any games abroad would be to send the the two top clubs from last season away on their two meetings i.e Chelsea vs manure and manure vs chelsea. Allowing countries to bid for those two games only. I would still be against it but it throws less questions of fairness in there.

No club will be happy to play the top end teams three times (when I say club, I mean their fans, of course). This is money-grubbing and everyone knows it. It has nothing, NOTHING to do with making the sport more accessible, but we still live in a society where Gordon Gecko style posturing has by and large been derided, so now ***** like Scumamore (the guy who robbed us of our Top 4 placing a couple of seasons ago, let's not forget) have to hide behind the smokescreen of being perceived as serving the fans, which is utter bollocks.

There is no justifiable reason for playing ANY games outside the UK, unless they wish to extend our Leagues to clubs from outside the UK.

39 games? Isn't fair, because every club will play one of their opposition three times. 38 games? Still isn't fair, because 10 clubs will lose out on a home fixture.

This idea has no justification other than money. I'd like to see a genuine argument in favour of it that doesn't have money invovled.

This is the English Premier League contested by English clubs and the games should be played in England!

And that's the line I take too. Some have called me a "little Englander" for that. I personally think you ruin the definition of Domestic League if you move away from what your sentence states.

The rest of your post was a really good read.

Well, its a numbers game really. The proposal does not offer any less football to the 'English' supporters, but instead gets another 80,000-100,000 per match to physically watch each game and touch parts of the world that would benefit enormously from a visit from the Premier League, be it in terms of economic investment, tourist traffic, charitable work done by the teams, or simply a feel-good factor amongst the residents.

As I've said, it may take an expatriate to understand how big the Premier League really is - although Daniel Levy is completely behind this (I assume the interview with him shown frequently here hasn't made it on UK TV yet - possibly as he doesn't want to be lynched). There is absolutely potential to make this work from an overseas point of view.

It's just a logistical arsehole, and as has been repeated ad nauseum, hideously unfair on all teams and players concerned.

And, Barmy. I've already said, I've got way, way more chance of seeing The Spurs (or any other side for that matter) play in the UK than anywhere else in the world. I'm only playing Devil's Advocate due to the enormous lack of understanding and respect accorded to overseas fans by people who have never spent any time in Asia, Africa, or America.

because they dont live in the UK ?

I don't give two shits about people who don't live in the uk. If you want to watch football, come and watch it in ENGLAND. If I move abroad I wont expect to watch spurs unless im lucky enough for them to come to town in a euro game. Who the fuck wants to watch Derby v Wigan as an advert for our great game?!!? just like it says in the telegraph today, we don't want to watch some shit Chinese ping pong players who keep smashing the ball into the crowd in the albert hall as much as they don't want to watch shit football...

really seems like Scudamore has put a silly idea out there so it can be knocked back, then he will go in with another slightly less stupid idea (but still totally fucking out of order!!) in thehope that they will let the revised idea pass.

He claims that we need to move forward, why? clubs have money coming out of their ears as it is! christ sake if it aint broke dickhead!

Just my opinion.

too right. this has nothing to do with "turning into dail mail readers" its just time we stood up for the game we all love. the league went too far years ago, only now are fans getting together against the worst idea so far...

I support English Football and I believe that should be played in England, is that so wrong?

Now that FIFA have come out and said that this will affect England's bid for 2018 World Cup the FA will never give the go ahead to the Premier League.

also if blatter is against the Idea and a vote will hapen to desid the future. The PL are unlikely to win that vote. (because FIFA wont gain any money in this plan)

Another reason to hate scudamore! he's put me on the same side of an arguement as Blatter.

Apparently the Concacaf(americas) and Asian associations have come out against it which pretty well does for it too.

Now I can sit back and await scudamore's next piece of nonsense to confirm my utter contempt for him.

Life is so strange.

When "King" Kevin Keegan said on Sky that it was "a well thought out plan", I'd never have guessed they'd just scribbled it down on the back of a napkin without consulting anyone or considering how fans/FIFA/UEFA/govt might react...

PL Chairman (sir) Dave Richards:
"We are going to the FA board meeting on Thursday and will go to Fifa the week after next to explain why we are doing this. I believe when they see for themselves what it is about, Fifa might just say they have jumped the gun a little bit. They might just listen to us more sympathetically. [...] We will not do anything to harm or injure the integrity of our own league."

The Premier League asked the FA to sit out the original meeting where the plans for the 39th game were discussed. By the time the FA's representative had joined the meeting the proposed plans had already been leaked to the media.

Also the Premier League has only given the FA a brief outline of what will happen if the extra games go ahead.

Which is why the FA is expected to take a strong stance against the overseas games on Thursday after their board meeting.

PL Chairman (sir) Dave Richards:

What moron thought of giving that job to Dave Richards? Sheffield Wednesday still haven't recovered from his time as chairman.
