Norwich have beaten 3 teams at home this season: Soton, Everton and Burnley. They’ve failed to score in 9 of their 18 home games this season in the league, and they’ve conceded 38 goals in those games, including 17 in their last 6.

It’s going to need a freakish combination of events for us to lose this. If we go a man down, we’d still expect to keep them out. If we don’t play well, chances are they won’t either. If we give them a goal head start I don’t think they have the defence to keep us out with Kane, Son and Kulu all a class above anything in their ranks.

It’s ok to feel confident ahead of this one - and for context I was worried about Marine!!!
Dr. Tottenham has performed greater miracles than Norwich finding some form post relegation.

I too am confident, but it’s not in the bag until the fat lady puts it in the bag and hands it to us… if you know what I mean

There are some who are celebrating our CL qualification already, like there isn’t another game to play.
There’s then the backlash against this from members who still have scars from previous unlikely capitulations who are just trying to temper expectations to avoid others having such a bad experience if the worst should happen.
That’s not why they’re doing it.
It’s a textbook defence mechanism, and it’s just odd.

That’s why I’m doing it.

I’m always guarded against celebrating too early - it’s sport, the fact that (almost) anything can happen on any given day is what makes it exciting and appealing.

I’ll accept that I’m odd because of this.

Even when we were 3-0 up against 10-man Arsenal I felt I had to say to my missus "we've fucked this up before against City...". I literally cant shift bad thoughts when we are in a good situation, it fucking sucks.

I find it amusing, or perhaps bemusing, that posters are vilified for remaining cautious, if not outright pessimistic. Firstly it doesn't matter what we think or say, us being optimistic isn't going to change a damn thing. It's important that the players are convinced they are going to win, and take it seriously etc - their mindset is crucial, ours not so much.

Personally, I thought that Arsenal fans were ridiculously presumtious to be assuming fourth was in the bag and that they were more concerned about overtaking Chelsea for third rather than worry about Spurs. They look pretty stupid now. I'm not going to make the same mistake. We still have a game to play, which we could win, lose or draw just like any other.

Of course we should win it, and I will be furious if we don't. This team under Conte is made of harder stuff than we have been used to, so my expectation is that we'll get this done.

However, I am never going to lay into any fan who fears the worst. We have lost out on CL due to a stomach bug crippling the bulk of the team, we have lost out on CL because Chelsea freakishly won it when they were out of the top 4. This shit does only happen to us. That's why many of us keep grounded, or negative - as a defensive mechanism because we have endured enough football pain over the years to be cautious.

When the team really develops a winning mentality, which can only come from winning, then we fans will gradually become more optimistic. Then we'll probably get complacent like United fans and simply expect it, which will be sad to be honest. In the meantime, I'm ecstatic that we are in the position where fourth is in our hands going into the final game. But I ain't counting chickens, eggs or any other poultry related entities until we are over the line...

Really calm and relaxed about this game.

We have Conte and a team full of players he trusts to do the job now.

We've got this, without being arrogant or overly confident.

Son will be motivated to get the golden boot, and that alone I think will get get us over the line.

COYS!

Those wounds will slowly heal. With every successful fight back and winning of a game we expect to win, with every moment like crouch’s winner at city, Lucas in Amsterdam, var in Manchester just before that, we will grow out of this shell of hurt and uncertainty. Eventually we will have flipped it so much that we say before a game: I hope we’re spursy today and get it done!

or maybe we will forever be banging our heads on the glass ceiling of football praying next season will be different and better…

Either way, COYS ?

Not sure you would ever find a more demotivated opponent than Norwich. Their fans are genuinely tired of being this yo-yo club and instead of this final game being a celebration of being in the PL think more of frustration for the fans than anything at their management and players for once again not rising up for the challenge.

Reading their boards it seems Dean Smith is really disliked as so are some of their most important players….with the exception of Pukki.

They have some major injuries and Smith went with an entirely new formation and lineup last time out against Wolves. I guess my point, I don’t think you will ever find two teams the more opposite in terms of motivation, organization and talent so we really should win it comfortably.

I will *NOT* think about Newcastle 2016. I will *NOT* think about Newcastle 2016.
I will *NOT* think about Newcastle 2016. I will *NOT* think about Newcastle 2016.
I will *NOT* think about Newcastle 2016. I will *NOT* think about Newcastle 2016.

I don't think it's comparable to that situation, we were a young team with an inexperienced manager then and it showed as we lost our discipline in those final lot of games with the Dele red card vs WBA, the game at Chelsea and then the capitulation at Newcastle. We struggled with the emotions of failing in our pursuit of a title and our players were mentally checked out.

Right now the players have Conte who from what I understand reading about his Juventus days, his biggest strength was about knowing how to poke players so they didn't get complacent, really does not allow standards to slip. I think we have an incredible attack and separately we have an incredible defence, we would need both of those to falter to lose at the weekend. I also think our squad mentally is in a fantastic place, there's a high standard which creates an intensity but to me it seems like it's not an anxiety, players feel comfortable and confident, it's the opposite of the Jose era where players were scared to make a mistake imo

We slipped up to a brighton team this season but there was factors to it. We had lost Doherty who had been the solution to all our problems in recent months, Kane had his ankle injured because Sanchez decided to needlessly jump on it despite already having the ball and also Potter is an excellent manager and figured out the system needed to nullify us, they also have quality players. Norwich respectfully do not have that. In my opinion if we turned up to Norwich at the weekend the same we did vs Brighton then we will get a result.

I agree with a lot of this, but if you think you can coast or fail to turn up in any PL match your asking to get burnt.

Let’s just get some early goals and then start to relax as we close the game out

Absolutely, I'm not suggesting that we should aim to be at the level we was vs Brighton, it was more; I don't think we can be any worse than we were against Brighton so if that's the worst case scenario I still think we'd be okay.

Not only that but people always forget that we had 1 point from our first 3 games in the group stages, needing a late equaliser from Lucas in Barcelona. Just getting out of the group was completely unexpected at that stage.

This team isn't the team of years gone by. Even with Jose when we needed to win against Olympiakos to go through, we did. Despite being behind.

It's been a long time since we have been in pole position and not achieved, it's also been a long time since we were not expected to achieve anything and we obliged. Even last year, we were expected to finish 8th going into the final game and we overcame a Leicester team going for top 4.

If you could pick an away team to play on the final day, with something riding on it for us but nothing for them, you’d pick this one.

Don't understand why anyone is gloating, or counting their chickens.

Just as I don't understand why people don't just chill the fuck out and accept, what will be, will be.

That said. And it's not as though I haven't been annoying people since November, by repeatedly saying we're going to be fine.

I've even been stupid enough to repeatedly say we're going to finish in the top 3.

But what do I know? I'm just deluded & annoying.

I'd feel ever so slightly more concerned if we had to win and not draw

That point at Anfield was HUGE

We’re going to smash them.

This isn’t your ‘Doctor Tottenham’ bullshit, this is Conte’s Tottenham, a team built in his image, with the guys to claw out a win against a battling Burnley less than 72 hours after battering the noisy neighbours, in the same week they were one of the only teams to take points off Liverpool at Anfield (with a crowd) since 2017. This is the Tottenham where Sonny is chasing the personal glory of a possible once in a life time Golden Boot award for the Premier League. It’s the Tottenham getting back to the levels it was before that weird rot set in. It’s a Tottenham to be proud of and get behind, and a fixture to relish and savour.

These are the days they live for as players, 1p from the ultimate competition.

I have faith.

Couple of recent cup defeats however PL record pretty good but the memories of playing Newcastle after they were relegated still haunts me..

Still hoping that midweek results mean that Everton have to give there all at The Woolwich , if they go there safe don't see them putting up much of a fight they are poor away from home.
Draw for us is fine but we cannot play for the draw , Antonio is very experienced for a game like this sure he will get it right.

No TV news yet for Sky in UK , expect they are waiting to see the midweek results before choosing what to televise, I see that our game is due for coverage by many satellite channels outside of UK.

True but I still worry , Norwich can play with no fear and will want to perform before their own fans ,we will be the ones under pressure , just don't want that extra time goal at home to Brighton to come back and haunt us.

Chill the fuck out.
