I honestly think our budding academy is cockblocking his skills and function in his role.

If we are filling potential gaps with the likes of Winks, Onomah, Edwards etc..

What is there left for him to do?

That's his actual role though; to assess our current playing assets against players outside of the club with the potential to be available.

He tells the Manager whether there it's worth making a signing as opposed to promoting a youth to the first team based on statistical analysis.

Levy called him Mitch in his quotes on the twitter, I doubt Levy would ever call him Mitch if the split was because of problems between the two of them.

Yet no mention that he has done a good job. It was all very non-commital and the use of Mitch is just PR. Levy will not have written the statement, the PR team will have done so, he just puts his name to it.

Hertyid on COYS:

He has 3 month notice apparently. He is leaving on good terms. There was frustration on both sides. DL expected more.

Maybe he expects too much.

We know the signings we made, but that doesn't mean they were Mitchell's recommendations or his first options.

I may see where the frustation from Mitchell's side may come

Was he already with us when we tried for Martial?

Not necessarily the end of the world, unless Poch's nose is put out of joint.

However, it's not good news whatever way you spin it. One of the good things of the last 18months is the apparent harmony behind the scenes at the club and the manager being afforded more control with people he trusts.

The last thing we need is another one of Levy's DOF brought in to upset the apple cart.

I don't think ever since Pleat and Hoddle fell out Levy has liked having a DOF that didn't have some input from the manager. AVB apparently requested Baldini for example.

Hopefully Poch will have a big say in who comes in.

By the way, something a lot of people haven't mentioned is that old Levy and Pleat ally Broomfield is back in the scouting set up. A very highly respected scout someone who Wenger tried to poach. My point being is that we have some good people working in that area not just Mitchell and Mackenzie who I feel have been disappointing. You have to wonder who the real man was at Saints and what we thought we were getting as compared to Schneiderlin, Mane, Wanyama, Tadic, Pelle, Alderweireld (to being him to the. BPL in the first place) and the like, our signings have hardly been ground breaking or as impressive in terms of value for money so far...

In a world where Stones goes for £47.5m and Bolasie £30m; I'm kinda happy to keep seeing the youth players into the first team.

Can you imagine what transfer deadline day is going to be like?

Then it could well have been Mitchell getting fed up with Levy's shenanigans. The way this N'Koudou transfer drags on just beggars belief...

According to most journos this has nothing to do with Levy or us. The transfer was agreed but Marseille wanted a replacement, they suggested Njie but the player took his time over being convinced to move to Marseille, then his VISA was delayed due to the French state of emergency, then Marseilles entire board and management changed hands and they wanted to review the Nkoudou and NJie deals before ratifying them...

Not really the end of the world. Mitchell and McKenzie will work for the rest of this window and then we'll get someone to replace them. As long as Poch is not unhappy about this situation then I think operations should be fairly unaffected.

Or maybe the manager wasn't 100% convinced on him?

Poch has been backed on wanyama & Janssen this window. Why would that stop all of a sudden?

Something about tech/it and software systems is that you'll often go in, develop or set things up and get everyone using things up to speed. Then you may well feel the job is done or the client comfortable and capable enough enough to begin treading alone. So you move onto new projects and they move on with what systems and processes you've given then. That happens a lot in the field when the job is done right.

Maybe relevant given all the "black box", stat scouting stuff relating to Mitch's appointment.

Some fine melting though from some of you chaps. Bravo.

Indeed. Jim White may become first man to achieve multiple orgasms live on air.

This is probably more to do with club size and how we run it as opposed to anything else and he got frustrated.

Remember when Harry first joined us? He said the big difference was we had people to do everything. As in at Southampton he used to pick up the net bag full of the balls ready for training whereas at Tottenham not only did we have people who did that the morning session was already set up and ready.

The same for Mitchell. He was probably a lot more hands-on and had more decision making powers at Southampton and it's not for him hence being linked to the likes of Leicester and Everton which are probably more suited.

Either way it's just not that bigger deal on the scale of things and he will be replaced.

Why has it come out now?

Almost certainly that someone blabbed and the club were keen to nip it in the bud with a short statement. I doubt they'd have wanted to release it 4 days before the season at 10pm but someone leaked to the press and they didn't want a full day of speculation. Classic media management

In other news, Bolasie is now a £30m player. Bet Everton could have done with some hardline Levy shenanigans in negotiating that deal, Jesus. £30m for 4 good games a season and a few step overs? He isn't exactly young either...
