Did you see him last night. He was awful and my City friends say he has one good game in 5. So maybe Levy was right in vetoing him coming here for an exhorbitant wage and some apologies fromthe Levy bashers on this board are due

City were awful full-stop, by the sound of it.

And that's certainly not what I've heard from my brother-in-law and his sons, who are City ST holders. Nor, apparently, was he after an exorbitant wage—he's not getting one at City. It has, however, been claimed that we offered him a derisory one.

I'm surprised by that as he has 7 assists (Elano only has 5), tends to get good ratings and has scored a few goals for them to.

I still wish we'd got him although not bashing Levy for not... sigh... :-|

Didnt see the game or the sending off but he's a class player.

Wish we'd signed him. Quick player with a Great left foot for crosses and free kicks.
There is no question we should've signed him. Him and Bale on left side.
Downing is not in his league.

Am I the only one that thinks that Malrbanque gives us more options than Petrov??

Steed is having a great season but I reckon we'd see the best of him in centre or RMF. With Bale out we have lacked a quality crosser from the left side. Malbranque/Lee/Chimbonda/Lennon rarely get decent crosses in from the left without cutting back onto their right foot.

Yes probably since Petrov has speed, great crosses, freekicks etc.

Having a dip in form right now but that shouldn't surprise anyone since Man C are playing with a small squad and many players are gettin tired.

It wasn't just Petrov who was pants, Elano looked like he really couldn't be bothered.

SS57 knows a lot more about City than me, but it does seem that Sven has recruited a lot of luxury players without really building a team ethic or spirit.

I saw Nery Castillo in the Copa America for Mexico, and he's very skilful. But he doesn't seem to have a natural position for City, and when the likes of Castillo, Petrov and Elano decide they don't fancy the Manchester rain, then City are going to get spanked.

On Petrov, I'm quite pleased we didn't sign him now, especially if Diego Capel really does have a £9 million release clause.

I watched the game last night, and I thought that although his all-round performance wasn't great, he still looked dangerous when recieving the ball wide, bit of pace and decent crosses, good player!

I've seen a lot of Man City games this season, and although he can have have quiet games he's been very good most of the time.

more like, has 1 bad game in 5.

If Petrov isn't getting the service he's markedly less effective, and that seems to have been the case lately, except for the United game, which appears to have been a bit of a one-off. The real problem, according to my brother-in-law, is that Elano's form has fallen away since early season—he, rather than Petrov, is the one who's not been at the races.

But the problems are growing all over the place. In fact, their season seems to be going the opposite way to which everyone predicted.

I wouldn't say we'd missed a bullet by any means, and I very much doubt our failure to sign him was down to any great astuteness on Levy's part.

If we are not attractive enough at the moment to get the top names in, he may be a good tie over for a couple of seasons until we can attract the top stars.

While Steeeeed has been one of our players of the season, if i'm being completely honest, i'd sign Petrov right now if i could, which i couldn't, because i'm not associated with the club in any way, other than as a fan, which is a pity really.

Anyway, Steed's biggest problem is the usual right footed left midfielder thing. He's been nothing short of immense in his defensive duties, especially as our defence has been so poor this season, until last month. Petrov wouldn't offer anything near Steed's defensive services, but he would offer a lot more offensively from the left midfield position. And now it seems our defensive play is much improved all round, maybe we can concentrate more on attacking from that position. I'm all for seeing Steed moving towards the middle where he'd be at his best, but i can't see that happening under Ramos.

I haven't seen that much of Capel so i can't really comment on him. The clips look good, but they always do. But people shouldn't doubt that Petrov is one of the top quality left mids in Europe. He has a cracking left foot and plenty of pace. Steed falls short here only because he's right footed but i'd hate to see him out of the team because he's such a 100 percenter.

I've seen him play for Sevilla 5-6 times this season....and he ain't bad but he's not topclass.....yet. Probably gonna get there but is more one for the future.

If he should be compared to Petrov.....well, then Petrov is the better player right now with his passing, crosses, freekicks etc. Might be different in a couple of years though.
