When Son is not at it and Kulusevski is back, he could be a good option to come on the left too. Then you'd three players in the final third who can create and make the ball stick

He should be banging on Contes door asking him what else he wants. He did far more than Lucas did, he worked his arse off when he came on despite barely getting game time this season. Conte can’t keep rewarding players in awful form and then not starting Gil after him changing the game today,
Yeah, I wouldn't be upset to not see Lucas play for us again and give Gil all of those minutes.

Was impressed with him in this game. Looked confident, took players on, tried to create. Everything we are missing at the moment. Still is lightweight but people said the same about Modric. I really hope he can kick on this season. We will need him.

We could genuinely have a young exciting right hand side with Gil at RWF and Spence at RWB. It may be porous, but I’d be willing to bet it results in more goals scored than goals conceded.

I’m totally with you, but I just know it won’t happen. Really frustrating

Showed fight and drove forward at every opportunity and most importantly played with no fear as others have said he deserves a start on Saturday.

Nice to have someone on the pitch whose first preference is to turn forwards and not backwards. He's an unpolished diamond. Needs more minutes with the first team. Don't send him out on loan.

I doubt there was a question about whether he could produce in the Portuguese league, question is can he in the PL?

Would love to see him get some minutes in the PL.

Sadly can't see it though

Still worry about his physicality in the prem but he definitely seems to have developed his confidence and understanding of playing as an inverted winger. He has very much been a left winger who hugs the touchline up to this point.

The only way you get used to physicality of the prem is to play in the prem. This isn't just about increasing volume/strength, it's about increasing things such as your anticipatory abilities when you're about to get snapped in half. In Boxing, there's no better practice to deal with having somebody throwing a punch at you than having somebody actually swing one at you.

If I had one criticism of Conte it would be his attitude towards a player being ready; Yes load them up with tactics on training pitch, that's fine but in any field/skill you name it, you develop from actually participating in what you're trying to be good at and then you look at what you can improve. You can't just be on the training pitch. Spence and Gil if they're going to get better have to be on the pitch. I think it's delaying things sending Gil to a place like Valencia, a prem loan fine but considering how poor we've been chuck these guys in. They will struggle to make things sizeably worse.

Never trust him to score but he has good work rate and pressing that we are missing when Deki is out. Adds some positive unpredictability in final third too. Hope he gets at least 15 mins against Bournemouth.

I agree with everything you say. My worry is more to do with what Conte values in his system of play. He wants players to win physical duels, when opposition players are touch tight to them so we can then release players into space and counter. This is clearly not something Gil is going to excel at. He would be fine for a team who are more possession based, such as Arsenal, Man City, and even Liverpool, but I just can't see him as a fit for Conte's spurs. I really hope i'm wrong because he has the kind of technical ability that our side is severely missing.

Yeah I understand where you're coming from. I think that successful teams are usually able to add a little bit of texture by having one or two players who don't possess the attributes of what the system promotes, in the way that the teams you mention do it traditionally with having a strong DM or even how Conte's team did it with Hazard and to an extent Pedro who admittedly are bigger than Gil but they provided that texture for the team. I'm glad that Gil I think has seemingly forced the situation because I can't see why we would go for anything other than 3-4-3 on Saturday with Gil on the right, I'm a fan of the 3-5-2 but I think the players feel more comfortable in the 3-4-3.

I’d like to see Lucas at RWB. Playing high with a similar position to Perisic and Gill tucking inside. Took up some good positions yesterday and Lucas pace will give him more space

I don't see Lucas there at all. His passing is monumentally bad and the danger of him giving the ball away in the defensive third would be too high. Plus he can't cross a ball to save his life, and he would obviously be defensively poorer than other options, so I don't see what he would really bring.

Nothing to do with Conte I know, but Marcus Edwards springs to mind, you have to give them the opportunity and I hope he does that for Bryan Gil,

And also he just kept whipping the damn crosses in without second thoughts. Sporting defenders really had a terrible time dealing with those.

Last night was his best cameo thus far for me. Still feel he is physically lightweight, but that can be improved upon as he gets older.

He definitely needs beefing up, but hats off to him last night, he was a breath of fresh air, no fear and a pleasure to watch someone fearless of making a mistake, and with nothing else on his mind but to attack and create something positive.
I wouldn't necessarily throw him in on Saturday, but I would definitely use him as an impact sub and start using far more than we have so far.
