Are late goals the litmus test if how good a player is?
No. But goals, assists, chances created , pass completion percentage and distance covered whilst playing in a top 4 ,champions League team are. Do you want me to point you in the direction of the stats for these ?Are late goals the litmus test if how good a player is?

You tell me. Is late goals an indication of doing something useful when it matters? I mean since he NEVER does that.
We lost Bale didnt we and Modric and somehow got Kane and Eriksen. Change is often for the good but takes some time.I think he'll be the first leaving to turn it on its head
Not always you have to qualify it
When Bale to the game to Inter after being 3 down that was special
But in general great if someone scores and settles a game.I don't think in the overall estimation of a player it means that much
Sometimes it's part if a team effort sometimes it's a player that drives the situation as he wants to win. They are all different
There are many important games Kane, Alli, Son, Lamela, Lucas, Winks, Sissoko, Dier, Wanyama, Rose, Davies Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Aurier, Sanchez and Lloris didn't turn up. There are many important game Poch has shit the bed tactically. There are very few players who play well in the majority of big games. I'd hazard a guess that he's turned up for more than most because usually when he doesn't, the rest are bad too.Exaggeration is the way some people see Eriksen.
There are many important games he hasn't. Is the exaggeration or a sense of reality?
So purely subjective then.
And a bit funny you have to use Bale as an example - as I am assuming you haven´t got any from players playing for us now. As I said - the Mad King was right.
I'm curious what does this mean? I googled it but it mostly came up with Game of Thrones stuff which I haven't watched yet.

What do you consider an important game? Why the Villa game not important? You know, the game where he created more chances than everyone except Rose despite playing less than 30 minutes.
I agree with what you're saying, however if people want to suggest that he is our most important player then arguably he has more responsibility to show up or better put a bigger target on his back for people to be critical when he doesn't have a good game such is high opinion of his abilities.
Fair.
That is not what many are currently saying though. For me Eriksen will never be KDB (obviously), but he is more than good enough to be in a core group of key players right behind the truly world class ones.

Clearly, he's not an elite-level playmaker like a De Bruyne, a Hazard, an Inestia etc, but I don't think that should be a stick to beat him with. The question I'd ask is: with the kind of resources THFC has, how easy would we find it to bring in player(s) who are noticeably better than Eriksen playing a comparable role in the side? Very blooming hard, is the answer that I would give to that question.
Therefore, despite not being the kind of superman that every team in the world wishes they had in their line-up, my take is that Eriksen is just about as good a player as we could realistically hope to get in our creative midfield slots, and I'd struggle to name anyone that we could sign who would be an unarguable step up from him. So while he's not perfect I am really glad that he's still with us for now and I think we will feel his loss when/if he goes.
True. But other players who are important, or who others consider more important, aren't being given the same label as him. I think it's become a coping mechanism for some now because he might be going so they're trying to convince himself he wasn't that important in the first place.I agree with what you're saying, however if people want to suggest that he is our most important player then arguably he has more responsibility to show up or better put a bigger target on his back for people to be critical when he doesn't have a good game such is high opinion of his abilities.

I remember the Vertonghen not caring posts when people thought he'd be off at the end of AVB/Sherwood season.This. Same thing happened when Walker left and last summer when Toby was rumoured to be going.
