But we moved onto Lenglet, surely that's doing exactly what you're suggesting we should do?

I feel we shouldn't be bothering with those two signings.... Lenglet and Davies have that role covered. It's people who are stilk pining for Bastoni. Anyway you and i have had a back and forth on this.....

Have a listen to what he says about Davies in this video and especially about breaking down deep lying teams and think about this player and that’s why we’ve signed him.

From someone who thinks everyone was shite tonight, I was impressed by Lenglet tonight. Seems to be very good on the ball. Not been tested defensively yet.

Still love Daddy Davies

I didn’t see much of the game. Their goal came from the left and our defence seemed to go missing. Also we have always been the poorer as a defensive unit when Sanchez has played on the left. Square pegs and round holes come to mind. Just don’t do it.
Exactly, why does Conte persist with this? He's a great manager and I'm so happy he's stayed with us, but he has this blind spot over Sanchez at LCB

He's bedding Lenglet in, I doubt he see's Sanchez as the superior defender - think it's clear he wants everyone feeling as fit as possible going into the season which is fair enough, it was a good workout if nothing else

Maybe not according his post-match conference: "I’m happy for Lenglet, for Clement, because he came in with personality. We need a player to play, to play with personality, to have the quality to play football, also to attack. It was positive."

Great, maybe the penny, or lira ? has finally dropped. That's cheered me up a lot, thanks for this ?
EDIT also liked the quotes about Davies, seems he would have played if necessary
Feel a lot calmer now it will be Davies or Lenglet, and I want to stress I like Sanchez.
Have often defended him here and elsewhere. It's not his fault he can't play left side, it's unfair on him that he has to at times.
Hopefully not now next Saturday

Thought he was really good tonight.
SO did Conte:

What were his options? Lenglet hasn't had a pre season, Davies picked up a injury, Sanchez played out of position to help the team. His natural position would be CCB or RCB..... I never understand people criticizing a player being played out of position or in an unnatural position in relation to his strengths...... it's akin to asking Davies to play RCB and master it. Sanchez gets way too much stick.... he was part of that backline in our final 3 games where we picked up 9 points. He filled in when Dier was injured.

Edit... I've seen your subsequent post and that's alot fairer.

I’ve been a bit disengaged with the transfer window so I’m sure this has already been covered but…did the loan include an option to buy in the end?

Just had a look online and there seem to be mixed reports.

I think he is going to make a lot of people in this thread look pretty stupid based on what we have seen so far. Strides forward with purpose. Once he’s had another month or so of training under his belt I think he will be a constant fixture in the side.
