Jose seems understandably more interested in Rodon than Sanchez, which puts Sanchez behind him, Dier and Toby.

Which CBs who weren’t first choice for their clubs have sold for over 25m? There can’t be many. I don’t think his potential is particularly obvious anymore. If it was, we’d be very keen to keep him.
Rodon played 1 minute for us. At the moment in whole competition Davinson played 793 minutes - only 17 minutes less than Toby and 107 minutes less than Dier.
He will get a lot of minutes and he isn't worse/he isn't worth less than players like Andersen, Saliba, Romero, Diallo, Fofana, Ake, Godfrey, Hermoso, Gabriel who went for similar around in last 2 years.

I honestly feel his been unfairly judged. What's been very obvious though with Sanchez is on the ball he has bad moments in game generally early on that stands out but once settled his perfectly fine.

I still believe when partnered correctly his a very good defender.

Our manager disagree

I can see why we gambled though and his first season he was fulfilling his potential and it looked like he pulled off a coup so I wouldn't put this one on the club, no one would have foreseen an excellent first season followed by 2 years of stagnation , I just think a lot of these feelings are a bit hindsight(ish) due to his recent form.
I agree, he's still had good games and still done well. I think he's been largely dependable but the big moments he's been lacking at times and I think that's maybe where we'd have expected to have seen him start to overcome those moments.

Kaboul developed and was about to take the step up as the second best centre back in the league behind Kompany. Then his injury issue appeared. Not sure why he is laughed at, yes in same situation as Sanchez in early days, but he leant from his mistakes.

Played the full 90 mins in Colombia’s 6-1 defeat to Equador where they went 4-0 down after 30 mins. Not gonna do much for his confidence is it.

On the plus side he played the whole 90 minutes.

Their manager, ex-United Assistant Carlos Queiroz, outdid Jose and took 4 off before half time....

Hope that the arrival of Rodon can help Sanchez ante up his game and become better. Aurier has improved for the better after Doherty came in

He hasn't looked composed for a couple of years now imo. He seems to have this nervous and panicky nature to him which isn't good for a CB. You can see it in his body language.

He occasionally makes technical mistakes (poor sliced clearances etc.) but I think the majority of issues are in his head. I think he needs to be stronger mentally and look more confident and in control of the situations he finds himself in being a central defender. How he can get that confidence back though is tough to know.

He doesn't inspire confidence but his best game last season was against Arsenal. Him and Moura shut down all their attacks. He will probably start in Europa and not start vs them this time around though.

Yeh i think mourinho will try and get rid of him as you can see as soon as hes out of the team our defending is much better. He Has too many brain farts for my liking

Agree. It’s frustrating because I feel he’s got everything to be a top defender. However, he needs to work hard on the mental side of the game. He lets errors affect him more than they should and that’s hindering his development.

I don't like seeing any player banished for application issues. If it is behavioural and affecting team dynamics, then sure. However in Sanchez case I think Mourinho could handle it better.

with Rodon not registered in Europe I'd think it's just a matter of Sanchez being available for that competition and being used there.

He'll get chances, but as with other players that find themselves on the fringes (Winks, Dele etc), he is there because he has not taken his chances and put in poor performances.
