If we sell Davinson that is a start, it's no good everyone shouting we must move out our CB's and then moaning we should sell them in a certain order. If we are left with Dier this year it means we'd have cleared the decks by next summer, if we do it the other way round we'd still have Sanchez here and have to try to shift him but maybe still have him the year after.
We ain't going to complete the rebuild in one window so managing the process is essential.

Sanchez is still useful to us, Dier and Tanganga are not. That is the issue. We can’t just hope our current back two are fit and ready all season. Unless we get a big fee which we can get a CB who is good in a high line it’s not worth it, in fact I would argue we probably need another CB even if Sanchez remains.

Both Dier and Sanchez have 1 year remaining so they will be gone next summer anyway with Tanganga an additional year.

I thought Sanchez has two years left on his contract.

And when his contract runs out next summer, he will generate zero money for his replacement.
We need another CB better than Dier/Sanchez/Tanganga, which requires that we move some of them on.
So we need to sell whoever of them that we can IMO, even if I also would prefer to sell Dier before Sanchez.
Kane generated 100m how's his replacement looking? 10m is pocket change we sell academy kids for more.

If you'd made this post a couple of months ago it would've got a ton of positive ratings.

Sanchez is riding the wave of a couple of good performances (happens every year) and he does look well suited to Ange's system, but with 1 year left on his contract if we can get money for him he needs to be sold, and we need to invest in a new 3rd choice CB.

As soon as Romero gets injured/suspended and Sanchez has to play a run of games the knives will be out for him again when the mistakes inevitably start creeping in.

Lovely guy but he needs to go.
Quite a lot of people were saying Romero was overrated at the beginning of the summer and maybe look to sell. I think there is too much baggage with Dav now for a full redemption in his career but would have been interesting to see how he fared under Ange

Eager to secure the services of Davinson Sanchez, Stade Rennais has made an offer of 9 M € to Tottenham for its experienced Colombian central defender. ow.ly/P5ge50PFhRC

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

is 9M € enough, not saying we should be getting 30 million or anything, but that seems stupid low.

For a player than can contribute this year it's low. Last year of contract and previous form probably not.

I've said above he's not the one I'd be trying to move on now but probably most moveable of the disposable ones.

9 million euros is a joke. 15 million of His Majesty's pounds sterling at least. I wouldnt mind keeping Sanchez rather than getting Tosin who seemingly prefers Monaco to the golden sand dunes of tropical Tottenham.

Sanchez has pace and we finally have a manager whose style would suit him. If he's happy to beca rotational backup.

Might be a case of seeing how well Phillips settles in and if Dorrington continues to improve. By next year, those 2 could be deemed good enough to step up. In the meantime, Sanchez fits our system better than any of the CBs and selling him for peanuts could be a big mistake imo. Concentrate on shifting Dier and Tanganga. Might also be looking at how Veliz settles in before shelling out huge money on a backup striker. Ange is on a 4 year contract so I don't expect him to create miracles in the first season, and everybody keeps saying we need patience.

Good grief. The rest of Europe putting on their most worn and threadbare clothes, smudging some charcoal on their face and coming to the prem with the begging bowl in hand is getting tedious.

But if you concentrate on selling Dier and it doesn't come off and you've passed up on the deal to sell Sanchez you've got both of them here for the season which was my whole point about selling Sanchez first if that's the deal that comes up first, it's silly to be intransigent in which order you want to shift them.

Would be nice for the fans to sing his name tonight.
Give him a warm send off and appreciate what he's done for the club because he didn't deserve the treatment he got last year.
If he's going, I'd like it to be knowing that he's got the support of the majority of the fans.

I'd prefer to keep a player who is better suited to the system than on who fits like a glove on a foot. Dier will find a move somewhere if he's out in the cold. It's harsh, but it's the reality.
