Just saw another angle of his pass back and VDV pointed at him to pass it back. Didn't notice that live when watching it but you would expect a player without the ball to have a better idea what's going on.
Thankfully his mistakes didn't cost us but this is the sort of thing you get with young players. He is a beast of a footballer and will only get better and better. What a signing

I was in the stadium. In line with Udogie and I heard Vic shouting. NO to the pass back.

Their first goal: these things happen.

Second one: a complete freak incident. I mean, their goaly had just launched the ball forward, Udogie wins the header, then it comes straight back to him. He's near the half way line and the safe ball is usually back to Vicario. Plenty of pace on it too. I don't think anyone realised Toney was still behind Vicario until it was too late. Almost like a goal hanger special in six-a-side game, and possibly only because Toney was absolutely flagging at that point. Freak goal.

Udogie definitely wasn't at his imperious best today but still had some class moments and was key to two of our goals. Onwards and upwards etc, and keep learning.
Exactly this. I was thinking I wouldn’t want Toney in this Spurs team, he’s knackered already and he looks like he doesn’t want to know now - and because of that lack of energy (mental and physical) he got gifted the chance. He wouldn‘t have even been there if his head was right!

he looked for a fight to me. He and Maupay played like they hate us. Gooners in disguise.

Definitely gooners, dirty slags. Toney looked like he was up for a windup and a scrap then seemed to have the stuffing knocked out of him. Think he got out-shithoused by our boys with the verbals and I really hope our singing the cash-out chant got to him. Don’t like him but I can see there’s a good footballer in there. Maupay however is one of the worst PL players I’ve seen - how he bundled in that goal I’ll never know.

Maupay is far from a Gooner. Think he's just generally anti-football.

Even his goal yesterday was shit.

Went off injured supposedly yesterday, motd didn't show anything on it. What was it related to? Any pics of him after game in a boot or limping or anything? Such a crucial player for us be terrible if hes out for a while

Probably just a knock.

Would of been all over social media if it looked a bad one.

He's in this clip at the end, seems to be walking freely enough... Maybe a bit of a limp but most of us would be on our hands and knees at best after a professional football match so it could be nothing.

Yeah pretty sure it's just cramp as Ange suggested, he ran to celebrate with the team when we scored the winner which to me suggests he's fine.

Another Spurs player not playing as well as he did earlier in the season. Perhaps needs someone pushing for his place to get back to his best ?

I think it’s more a team thing than individuals. We are tired, our midfield is exhausted. I bet the defenders are too, but most of the midfielders are either coming back from injury or illness, or doesn’t suit our system.

The midfield really is key to our play imo, our ability to resist the press, and to press ourselves effectively.

So once that engine room is back in rhythm and able to make us tick, all the other players will look a lot better too.

Or he’s really young and adapting to playing week in week out in a new league with a team which changes around him most weeks.
I don’t think any drop-off has been noticeable and I don’t think he needs competition.

I agree with this. I don't think he's dropped off noticably. It's more that early in the season we started playing a high risk style of football against teams who didn't know what we were going to do next, or where someone like Udogie was going to pop up on the pitch.

Half a season later and most teams have now developed strategies to counter that threat, and sometimes even turn it against us. Udogie isn't alone in that either - we're finding it harder week by week to surprise the opposition across the pitch, which makes it look like our players have performed worse when more simply it's the opposition that has got better.

Not sure he's dropped off any more than the rest of the team but in an ideal world everybody should have someone pushing for their place. Unlike a few on here I've got a lot of time for both Royal and Davies but style-wise they're very different to Porro and Udogie and probably aren't an ideal fit that inverted role. So I think ideally we would have some more "like for like" competition for both fullbacks, but there's probably higher priorities elsewhere at the moment.

Not in today's training video. Hopefully only precautionary as the game was only 4 days ago. Interesting to see if he's training tomorrow.

And depending on the nature of his injury, Davies is fit so no need to risk him and possibly worsen it.
Besides, a breather may be no bad thing. He’s played a lot of football for someone so young in his first season in England.
