He was our best player, Doherty would have been cooked a few more times by Chelsea wide players if he'd played. Against the better sides he's our best option without me having seen Spence.

Yeah I thought he had a pretty good game in difficult circumstances.

Not great for their first goal, but he was very good defensively in open play and made a number of good challenges and interceptions where he read the play and cut out danger. Didn't think his attacking play was too bad by his standards, either (although obviously miles off a player like James).

Think he looks a solid option in games against top sides where we need someone a bit more defensive on the right.

I don't agree with the caption but this wasn't great to see from Emerson's reluctance to go the space and Kulu's pass back to him

I really like Royal and appreciate the turnaround he's had but we need so much more from RWB imo. It's a problem.

He was very good defensively on Sunday. We know he’s not great in the final third but as long as he’s not getting rinsed defensively I’m fine with him starting.
He’s such an athlete at least he offers legs which is exactly what’s needed in that wing back role.

It was a sloppy performance in general (whole team), but I do wanna give him props. Solid off the ball as usual, and put in two delicious deliveries. He’s not even a big issue in the build up. It was Lloris and Sanchez who couldn’t find accuracy nor weight of pass at all tonight. I really like the facet of our game plan when he drifts infield and allows Kulusevski to isolate a defender out wide.

It’s funny because before his injury Doherty was first choice, but isn’t even getting a look in now?!

Conte needs to get djed in the team asap especially when we need a goal . Even Doherty on last seasons form could offer us something against tired legs .
Royal is ok defensively and could possibly do a job as right sided central defender in a three . When Romero isn’t fit or being rested .

but he’s never a wing back

Can anyone remember anything he’s done going forward in in 2 games? We are basically playing with 4 cbs

I thought he was fine, personally. Had a pretty good shot on goal in the first half. Unfortunately, I think he struggles with Sanchez next to him and Bissouma didn’t really make himself available for outlet passes like Bentancur often does, which Emerson does really well with as he uses it to find his own pockets of space off the ball. All of that and Kulusevski just wasn’t that good today, making it really difficult for Emerson to be successful. It was just a bad team performance and Emerson was like the least of my issues. All of that and we still got a point.

Himself and Sanchez are being targeted by other teams and who can blame them. Very good premier League lads when defending but put the ball at their feet and they don't even look like premier League players.

Doherty must be dog shit in training to not get a chance.

He was fine again tonight but he’s still just not enough. Conte persisting with him is insanely annoying.

Defensively so much improved, but lacking in developing the transition from the back, not helped y Sanchez who is equally as bad at this, the two together have no chance when out under pressure.
Everything decent came down the other side, with Peresic showing what a wing back in full flow looks like.
