I agree with all of the above, however, the fact is that Lamela is not a player you can depend upon due to his unfortunate luck with injuries. I think that factor alone is too strong to overlook, hence why I would be happy with moving him on if we are approached with a decent enough bid.
Yeah, I agree with that and think I said as much earlier in the thread. He's not the first I'd look to move on but if a decent offer came in, as much as I like the lad, I could live with losing him.
I do think too many people underestimate what he brings to the team though, not just in terms of playing but his character too.

Agreed. When Sonny was suspended last season, Lamela told Jose that he was willing to play despite not having fully recovered from his injury. Now that is called taking one for the team.

I like Erik.

He's very unlikely to be worth selling on the basis that he's a c*** and Jose wants them. He has won us games with that (Liverpool a few seasons back). He's not worth enough to be worth selling either.

I just feel like we've yet to use him properly in a Jose team. He should flourish imo.

Are we at the point of the transfer window yet where Lamela will "become like a new signing"? Is it "going to be his season this season"?
I'm pretty sure that's why Aurier and Lamela bleached their hair to look like new signings

That's probably part of the reason he's suffered so many injuries during his time here, he's such a determined and stubborn bastard that he'll try to play through any niggles for the good of the team.
That's why, for all his faults, he's still one of my favourite current players - he's so passionate towards the club.

I don't rate Lamela as a cam, he is too indecisive in possession and holds on to the ball too long.

He can still play a role on the right as a squad player, if and this is a massive if, he can stay fit. A good bench player.

Don't really see the point in selling, no one will buy him with his injury history for more than 10m.

Agree with this. There were times in the last couple seasons when he was the only player willing to take responsibility and play with intensity.

In ‘All or Nothing’ when Harry Kane talked about too many players hiding and passing responsibility to others to make something happen, he was right, but Lamela isn’t someone you can level that accusation at.

Yes it’s frustrating that he is injured frequently but his attitude and dedication to the cause is infectious. As others have already stated this invaluable commitment is exactly what you want from a squad player. Many squad players will sulk and constantly agitate for a move but Lamela has clearly accepted his role and gives 100%. I’ll be happy if he sticks around.

Sadly behind Dele he provides really crucial depth as one of the only central attacking player who will play with the ball at his feet. I think we'd resemble AVB 2014 Spurs if we put out a lineup without him, Lo Celso or Dele in it. He's going to be really important in EL matches too. I think we should keep him rather than selling for peanuts.

There is no "AVB 2014" team though... It was Tactics Tim

I like Erik and want him to stay and be part of the team going forward. He works hard, doesn’t seem to sulk about being a sub, has that canny knack of creating a goal quite a lot and just seems a horrible bastard on the pitch which is good for us.

However I would understand us taking a good offer if there was one on the table as he is injury prone and isn’t a definite starter.

Agree. Not good enough to be a regular starter, but definitely a solid squad player.

My gut feeling is that he will see out the last two years of his contract, but that he will not be offered an extension.

True Sausage. AVB was useless.

It's just the personification of it - he took the Redknapp team and tore it into pathetic little shreds. Turned all of our good players into give-a-shit mercenaries.

Sherwood was a plank, but he rescued the tatters as best as his Tony Adams style could manage. We have to be grateful for what he did, beyond the persona.

Its gonna be a long season with loads of games hopefully (means we progress in the cups), and Lamela is a great player to have in the squad, one thing you can guarantee is he will be a warrior, and give 100% in every game he plays

Fucking hell. Thanks, mate. I thought I'd left all my anger about that particular incident behind.

It's the only thing that's ever happened that made me actively dislike a player and want him out (I came to be a fan of Spurs long after Judas had left. In fact, I wouldn't have known what Spurs even was when that happened).

I love Lamela because the second he comes on the look in his eyes completely changes, he turns into a complete psychopath and I love that, he will just run and run and run until he physically can't anymore for the team. Unfortunately he never fully turned into the player we thought he would be but at least we could utilize him as a cup game/EL player to keep our first team fit. Plus he isn't the worst option for a spot start here or there. How many players of his quality could we afford to buy rn/would be willing to come in as a backup.

lol, what? Despite the boring football (to some), AVB actually made great improvements to what Redknapp left despite not counting with Modric anymore. It wasn't until his second season, after the club forced a lot of useless players onto him (with the exception of Eriksen and Lamela, who still had to adapt to a new league), and Sandro and Dembele were hit with serious injuries, that things began deteriorating (and on top of that, he had to deal with the snaky behavior of Tim Sherwood, and with Adebayor being a disrespectful twat).

Say what you want about AVB, but he definitely would have got better results out of the squad Harry Redknapp had.
