Say what you want about AVB, but he definitely would have got better results out of the squad Harry Redknapp had.

Shouldn't have torn it apart then, should he? Got rid of VdV (one of the key engines of HR side) before he'd barely set foot in the door.
Got to love the typical SC rhetoric of players that were "forced" on AVB, like he wasn't just crap at man management. He almost forced Lloris out a few months into his first season and turned almost the entire squad into a shambles. Exactly what he did at Chelsea, but I'm sure it was someone else's fault.

We probably would have seen a much better Lamela if he hadn't have been signed into such a mess of a season, as he seemed to be the scapegoat for quite some time.

I loved VdV like you have no idea, one of my favorite players to ever wear the Spurs shirt, but I think it was the right move to let him go at that time as he was aging fast. Also, if I recall correctly, AVB didn't get rid of VdV, he simply informed him that he wouldn't be an automatic starter anymore and that the style would be more disciplined and tactical now than under Harry, so VdV made the decision to leave (that's what I remember anyway, but I could be wrong as it was so long ago).

AVB didn't torn this team appart, Modric did so with his decision to leave (and I don't blame him, as it was clearly the right move for his career) and so did Harry (with his behavior during his last season with us). With no Modric anymore, AVB had no choice but to try a different approach to what was working out before for this team.

I agree with you that he mismanaged Lamela, but I can't really fault the way he handled Lloris and wanting to create the illusion that he had to earn Friedel's place (perhaps a similar approach with VdV would have resulted in him staying one more season with us?).

AVB is proving at OM that he's still a quality coach, but there are indeed some things to criticize about his time at Spurs. However, tearing down Harry's team is not one of those.

It would be very unfair to force Lamela to change his number and in my opinion, he shouldn't have to.

He's one of our longest serving players and deserves a bit more respect.

I don't see who would buy Lamela. I guess someone in Italy but he's on big money and we'd want a fee and with his terrible injury problems and stark lack of acceleration, one wonders why anyone would.
agree but there just wont be enough minutes for all our attacking mids.

Plenty of teams in Italy and indeed the Prem for whom Lamela could still do a decent job tbh.

I don't think we'd have problems finding suitors for him, the issue will be finding teams willing to pay whatever figure Levy comes up with.

However with squad places needing to be cleared for incomings and a wage bill DL will no doubt be keen to reduce wherever possible, there may well be a cheaper deal to be done, as it'd be in our interests to do so.

well Moura will certainly be easier to move.

Would he?

You'd have to drag that bloke out the door kicking and screaming - he loves it at Spurs.

Although I'd be up for selling Lucas if a decent offer came in, if one of them is leaving, it'll be Lamela down to his injury record.

easier to move on in that more clubs would be interested.

I love Lamela. I'd hate to see him leave. 30 minutes of his shithousery against tired legs is so useful as an option off the bench.

surely he or Moura moves on if we get Bale?

You'd have to think so.

There were reports all summer we were trying to offload him in Italy. At this point he might get a couple games in the Cups but it's hard to imagine him even making the bench for our league games assuming everyone is healthy.

It is, if he is fit.
I like Lamela, always give 100%, but his passing in the final third has been poor.

If one of our attackers is being moved on, i would rather see Lamela go than Moura
