I do a similar thing for the Home Office. Lots of people want to bring in new systems and I'm the one who has to tell them, 'actually that will contravene this piece of the Data Protection Act or that part of GDPR'. The salient points of a project or deal are easy and quick to set up - you have an objective and you have a path to that objective - nice and simple. But it's about making sure you can complete that path to the objective that can be littered with issues and that's what takes time to sort out - not necessarily because there's any kind of disagreement, just people who want the same thing trying to decide the best way of resolving a question.
This. ?

I work in bids and tenders and getting to the ‘agreement in principle’ stage is only about 30% of the work. The other 70% is draft after draft and revision after revision until all parties are comfortable with putting pen to paper.

it’s also worth remembering that when it comes to negotiation, it’s not about ‘winning’ - because that makes the other party feel like they’re ’losing’ and human nature (on the whole) dictates that we push back if we feel we’re losing, which makes it even harder to find common ground.
Good negotiation is about compromise, not combat.

I’m much more comfortable that this will go through now that the lawyers are involved ?

Romano does like to open his mouth and let his belly rumble, doesn't he?
If that's what Twitter's like in general, noise for the sake of making noise, then I'm glad I'm not on it.

God, I'm old and grumpy!

So if it's only a one year loan, what happens at the end of the year? Do we think there's an option to buy? If not, can we arrange another year loan after which he'll be out of contract and we can sign him permanently? But then we won't have Madrid subsidising his wages so could we afford him then? Lots of questions...

Playing golf tomorrow in cambridge,
Wonder if Bale would like to meet up after his photo shoot for a cheeky little 19 ?

All this talk of when Bales coming to us, how much, how long. But has anyone stopped to think what we all will do when he’s announced. Do we like meet back in this thread this time next year for some more freak outs and goal post moving and melt downs?
I'm more concerned with the final 2 weeks of the window. We're not going to be able to top this week now. I hope we just re-announce him again on deadline day and briefly mention at the same time that we've signed Sorloth.
