The fact that JJ hasn't swung in here and dropped a massive old poo pooing (yet) at least says to me we haven't walked away from any deal. We may well let our bid sit there while Betis shop for more interest and if Betis don't get the interest they desire or nobody betters our bid then they may accept. That's an advantage (and a curse) of moving early in the window. Even if we offered 90m Betis would still shop for more.

You don't make a signing before a final in case you lose it. Need something to buoy the fans if we lose. Believe Liverpool did something similar with Van Dijk and Allison when they lost last year - announced very soon after the loss.
