Absolutely, but if we've struggled to agree a deal for lo celso for around 60m, I have absolutely no idea how we'd agree a 80m plus deal for coutinho, in the space of 2 days.

Sure I've seen before that Barcelona want to loan him out, absolutely no way we do that without an option to buy.

Obviously hope I'm wrong as he's a class player, but just can't see it myself.

I absolutely agree with your sentiment because it's best to keep expectations low this late in the window but there's a few reasons this could get done quickly, Barca are desperate to shift him to bring Neymar back and we will likely come up with money quicker if it's a player of his proven quality. The loan would make things less restrictive in terms of time also.

Barca would be easier for us to deal with I reckon. If Coutinho would want to actually come to us would be another matter

This has gone on for so long that I'm over it. I'd prefer a right back at this stage even if Eriksen goes.

Coutinho is fantastic player. Really has that "x-factor" about him as he can score goals out of nowhere. However, as most on here criticize Eriksen for being far too unreliable when out of form etc (...which I agree with), then Coutinho is even worse in that regard. He can be unplayable or he can be turd.

Personally I'd rather see that we take a punt on a younger up and coming player like Fernandes. But I get that it's tempting to bring in Coutinho if possible. If that's Pochettinos first choice and he believes he can get the best out of him, let's try to make it happen. I'm not certain Coutinho is even interested in coming back to the PL though.

I always had arguments with scousers about the Coutinho/Eriksen debacle but Coutinho would be our best chance of replacing Eriksens passing whilst also adding some that factor of being able to win a game from nothing, which eriksen did time for time but that was the main attribute of Coutinho. I'd say a fully invested Coutinho would be better than a frustrated Eriksen.

To be honest I always thought Eriksen was better! I felt Coutinho was unreal when earning his move to Barca however.

That said Coutinho is box office and like you said tends to deliver key moments which is exactly what we need to fill the void of Eriksen.

I always felt that Coutinho was a bit of a MOTD player and Eriksen had control over an entire game but times change and needs change and with the system we're playing I'd say Coutinho might be a great fit now with Winks/Ndombele there to dictate a game, before we were extremely reliant on Eriksen maybe not so now with those two in midfield compared to the days of Wanyama/Dembele which was great in it's own right but wasn't exactly a force to be reckoned with in terms of passing.

Yeah you'd hope those two could get the ball to Coutinho in the right areas quickly to do serious damage.

Does all the various news this morning mean that this truly is at stalemate? (yes, this is a serious question)
