I think the problem is that Gio played the last 4 games of last season with physical discomfort. He should have stopped a few weeks and playing with an injury made him unable to have a good preseason. Now he goes with Argentina, I hope he only has a few minutes and we can have it 100% for November and December. Very difficult games are coming and we need it as the first change.

I didn't think it was harsh, he basically said he's playing well but he's still not where he can be because we know when he is fully fit that he's amazing.

When he plays, the team improves. Except Sissoko, imagine if he would play alongside Tanguy.

Doubt he will start against City. Peru on Wednesday before travelling back. Probably see him come off the bench again.

really positive that Jose trusted him and Hojbjerg as a two in midfield for 20 minutes.... will allow him to play Gio and Ndombele once they are both fully fit.

I would like to think we are working towards the PEH, Ndombele, GLC midfield - but that it's fitness and system related

It's also encouraging that, while at point we didn't think we could win without him, the team is becoming effective at getting results with whoever is in the midfield...albeit PEH is crucial!

For me, he is in a similar bracket of importance than Hojbjerg and Son. At least when he hits Top form.

I like that he seems to be a busy fucker who can put a foot in but also really looks like he wants to make stuff happen. He pops up everywhere and looking for some direct forward passing.

I am really looking forward to see him start matches in the PL again. And hopefully together with Tanguy.

Still seems way off fitness wise.

A couple of times yesterday he made really lazy slide tackles rather than try to get back goalside.

Hopefully the International break will give him time to work on his fitness more (assuming he's not travelling with the Argentina squad)

he’s in the Argentina squad. Perhaps we can do a deal and send them Lamela instead?

I don't mind it if he actually plays some decent minutes but if he's just going to sit on the bench, not sure it's going to do much for him.

Is there anywhere I can find out how many minutes he has been on the pitch at the same time as Ndombele this season? I bet its not even a full match worth.

Start them both Sunday please Jose!

I don't think they've ever been on the pitch together have they? Certainly not both with PEH.

Interesting stats on F365 re: average chances created per 90 mins played. Our top 3:

Tottenham
Giovani Lo Celso 2.9
Son Heung-Min 2.5
Harry Kane 2.3

Hopefully the reason he hasn't been playing is fitness related. Creating chances has been our Achilles heel for about 9 of the last 10 seasons (16/17 aside) and the stats would suggest he's right up there (Ziyech being the best at 3.8 - so annoying, so gettable 18 months ago).

I love Gio, he has all the ingredients to comfortably be our best attacking central midfielder. He is tenacious, clever, great control, great passing, excellent vision and as we have seen from Betis he can score a lot of goals. Get fit Gio and you will be a fan favourite!

In my opinion, Lo Celso has the potential to be a top 5 as a midfielder in 2 or 3 years. I think the same about Ndombele, does anyone agree? I hope that soon we can interpret them together. It will depend on the coach.

Let's be real here. Soon both of them would have been here for 1.5 years and we have spent 100m on them combined - really dissapoiting so far, I expected more.

There will be various excuses, but that is a fact.

i dont think its a fact

Los Celso has been injured if he was fully fit start of the season he would be starting, he is quality i cant see how anyone can dispute it.

Ndombele first season was a write-off, this season he is playing regularly and his playing ok, as the season progresses i think we will see more from all 3 of them i include PH. When we play the bigger teams i bet we see more from Nd as he will have a bit more space.
