Yes agreed. The fact he plays better in Spain than either France or England suggests it could be as simple as language barrier. He probably feels more comfortable where everyone is speaking Spanish and this allows him to focus more on the football side.

Edit - I also remember him saying a key factor in joining spurs was the Argentinian coaching team, who of course left a few months later.

OR it's a piss easy league in Spain & that's the reason he's only ever had one good season in his career?

Are 3 years of excuses not enough already?

Lo Celso clearly has the ability , it's the mentality that is lacking. There was ITK that he jolly walked away from training making plans for the weekend when he wasn't picked instead of showing urgency to get in the team. Never going to be a player under Conte like that, never.

Think there are some similar issues re Lo Celso and Ndombele re the lack of their own willingness and application to adapt in too many key areas which are necessary to succeed in the PL, and particularly under Conte.

Happy they're doing well and they've had some good performances in "the shop window". Both very good players but, depending on the business we can get done, would be surprised to see either play for Spurs again.

Looking forward to seeing what Conte decides about GLC. I'm sure Gio has been chatting with Romero and keeping an eye on how we're doing, so it can't have escaped him that we've started to like a really well oiled team. He's still our player and If he were to come back in pre-season and fit in seamlessly, I wouldn't be opposed to him staying. Plus, he'll have another Spanish speaker in Bentancur that he can communicate with on the field ( if communication had anything to do with his settling in and performances)

Personally I think it's more than just a language barrier. That could definitely be part of it and maybe he really does feel less comfortable when not everyone is speaking Spanish. Maybe it's a lifestyle thing too where he feels more comfortable living in Spain than England. But let's remember football and London are both highly multicultural. He will have been surrounded by various people in the squad that he could communicate with even if his English was virtually non existent. Since Pochettino left we have had two Portuguese managers and an Italian. Spanish and Portuguese are closely related and whilst I have no idea if Lo Celso speaks Italian he reportedly holds an Italian passport which he is entitled to in view of his Italian heritage. There are also numerous players (e.g. Emerson, Romero, Moura, Dier, Reguillon, Sanchez ) who speak either Spanish or Portuguese.

Portuguese, Italian and Spanish are closely related. But as an Italian speaker living in Spain it's not exactly like you can fluently communicate without putting in the effort to learn the language.

Portuguese on the other hand is impossible for me to understand. Maybe a Spanish native speaker would be able to understand more but the pronunciation is so entirely different to Spanish that you won't get much.

Potch also has Italian heritage but can't speak a word of Italian. Half of Argentina has Italian heritage but few speak the language.

On his time in the PL, his performances were fine, not great, but fine. His injuries were a major factor but based on Contes comments it is clear he wasn't able to adapt. Maybe the league just doesn't suit him. It didn't suit Lamela either, but eventually Lamela transformed himself into a different kind of player and thrived on it.

Ok Spanish league weakness it's worth pointing out the opposite happens too. Hazard is a prime example of someone who hasn't been able to adapt to the league so far.

Having said that the disparity between the PL and the other leagues is pretty collosal these days.

Playing well again. I'm certain villarreal will buy him. Although very odd the option to buy price isn't known which leads me to believe its a low amount for some reason

Was just instrumental in the winner for them. Got the ball in cm beat a man, held off another and played a great through ball to parejo to square for the winner

Great how we get rid of all these players who can’t win anything so we can. Hope they win the trophy and Foyth adds to his medals, as well as Lo Celso, Aurier and Capoue. Probably makes Harry envious as he looks how the discarded players are doing so well elsewhere. Would be surprised if he stays this summer

Looks great when he is surrounded with players that look to make runs into open spaces. Most importantly he has managed to avoid injuries. Bit more luck and he ends up with 4 assists in those 2 games. If Conte wants to sell him it won't be hard at all.

Shame he played the vast majority of his games for us under Mourinho and Nuno, both of whom were depressingly bad with no discernable plan. I wouldn't be at all unhappy to have him back and see what he can do in a functioning team with a hands on manager. Think the ship has sailed though, but we should get good money for him now.

Quality player. I still feel he could thrive as a number 10 in Contes system. Especially now we're a fully functioning, well drilled side. And not the chaotic mess that he was part of for the 2 years.

Like most players he clearly plays well in a well-coached side where each player knows his role, players makes runs off the ball, and attacking patterns are rehearsed.

Unfortunately it seems like Conte has already deemed him not suitable for the prem. If we're gonna move him on I really don't see him going for cheap if he's putting in motm performances in the knock out stages of the champions league.
