We really need his pressing, Son and Kane often take breaks from it (luckily Hojbjerg yells at them when they do). He is sloppy and inconsistent but has best work rate from our forward players (Bergwijn is similar too).

He is starting to frustrate me a bit really. I've maintained that he's been one of our brightest players this season and on numerous occasions, doing more than either of Son or Kane, but how careless he is with regards to finding a man and keeping possession is starting to grate on me. I get that he'll lose the ball when he's trying to go on mazy runs and such, but he needs to strike a better general balance with the risk in his play

How is that only just starting to grate on you? He's been doing that since he arrived. He's 30 years old, he isn't changing or improving.

We need much better.

Yeah but this season we've seen a slightly different Lucas IMO. The problem with Lucas before was that he wasn't doing enough. He had all this pace but would rarely be seen trying to take people on or run in behind and was often hiding a bit. He still doesn't run in behind, but this season in particular he has been trying to run with the ball more and from deeper positions and that's why him losing the ball feels more prominent now than it has done before.

Also I'm not saying he's never been frustrating as fuck, or that I don't think we need better. More so just talking in the terms of this season in isolation and with respect to the fact that he's put in performances this season where like I said, he's been better than the other attackers around him.

He was a dynamo today, all over the place, and scored one of the goals of the season. Fuck your Bernado Silva's, this was a goal you'll talk about in 20 years.

And yeah, he needs that statue.

Played really well yesterday. I’m a massive critic of his as for me yes he works hard but for the position he plays in for us and being a regular starter his end product isn’t good enough and he goals return isn’t good enough either. Didn’t realise till just watching his goal back that was his first premier league goal in 22 matches dating back to February.

We need an upgrade on him however he isnt the biggest problem in our squad at the moment.

I'm a fan of Lucas.
He's more effective overall than having one of our back up mids in his place. Definitely part of our best XI at the moment, and a key squad member
And what a great goal ?

So refreshing that the endless tide of negativity for Lucas in the Lucas thread has temporarily abated . Agendas are agendas and it will surely start again vs Brighton if he doesn't score .

The goal was ridiculously good. Son obviously has scored the best goal seen at the new stadium, but I really think that his yesterday was right up there.

Ridiculous goal, he has such quick feet. He really is causing defenders all sorts of problems, which is allowing more space for Son to come in from the left. Just need to get Kane scoring now and all 3 will be a very tough frontline for anyone to stop.

His weaving around the opposition before pulling the trigger, so reminded me of his dancing around the Ajax box for his second goal in the CL semi.

Maybe not a great goalscorer, but most certainly a scorer of great goals.

Like all our front 3 he could do with having more competition, but having not really rated him in the past I've really warmed to him this season. He reminds me of Lennon a lot who was also one of the hardest workers on the pitch but a bit goal shy.

I always feel for Lucas. There were a couple of half hearted attempts at singing his song yesterday but they never got going. That goal deserved his name to be sung from the rafters. Fucking Dele still gets more love at WHL than him.

Fantastic - always gives 100% ,is Spurs through and through. Single handedly got us to Madrid and currently is a very effective outlet when converting defence to attack. Presses like a madman and scores wroldies too - and doesn't even get his name sung - fickle fuckers
