We simply don’t need “value deals”. We are not a poor club, and we’d have more money available for transfer fees and wages if we got the deadwood out of the door.
The problem is, is that to get the deadwood out of the door is going to cost us and therefore I do think our spending power is going to be substantially reduced because of that.

Deal i reference is he is a very good player
You are missing the point. You can't pick and choose when it's ok to do these deals. It's either right all of the time or it isn't. It has to be the manager and director of football selecting the players not the board!

This feels like the most Paratici deal ever - pacey head-down dribbler on a free. I suspect the ground work has been laid for a while and now we need to decide if we’re going to follow through. With our massively bloated squad we have to be really careful with “value” buys as we only have a few shirts left to hand out. I don’t think Solomon is all that exciting, his videos look like Lucas and his stats outside of take-ons are mid - but maybe our budget is so tight that we’re going to have to settle in a couple of positions, and I’d sooner skimp on a backup WF than an average CB or GK.

Lot of assumptions in this.
i) He is not a head down dribbler. Not at all
ii) Stat we need to look at is, He has scored 4 PL goals in 500 minutes. All 4 came off the bench. He has only had 4 starts.
iii) He is not like Lucas at all.

This is Fulham's internal February goals of the month...

Solomon with 4 PL goals in this video

Every single one pure quality.

And he nearly scored against us in 90th minute, when we won 0-1 at Cottage. Lloris I remember pulled off a blinder to stop a similar shot.

IMO, when players like this come, you have to do the deal. At the very least, do the deal 90% and wait for the manager to get the signoff. Like we did with Vertonghen.

Fair enough, I've only seen him against us and about 20 minutes on Youtube so my opinion hardly carries much weight. Maybe the editor just really liked clips where he tries to dribble straight through a defender.

Disagree with you re: stats though. 4 goals is an absolutely tiny sample size to draw any real conclusions. He scored them in consecutive games in February, then went to the end of the season without scoring again, like you said earned a starting place and then quickly lost it again. Also three of the four were low-percentage shots, maybe he's a generationally good finisher or maybe he went through a hot run of form and a bit of luck. He hit 4 in ~1400 minutes in Ukraine last season.

We’re hearing Levy is still consulting with Paratici. We also still have our head scout and full scouting team below him. He’s clearly a player that’s been recommended and watched for some time, the board haven’t just magicked up a player because he’s free. We’ve also heard that signings will be lined up and signed off on by the DOF and new manager. People need to chill and take those things into account and stick to what they think of the player for now. There’s literally nothing to suggest the board are driving this move considering Paratici, Gabbanini and his team of scouts are still involved with the club in some capacity.

Solomon is exactly the kind of player our fans moan about not going for. Diamonds in the rough with parts of their game that are elite but other weaknesses, it only takes this kind of player to click and improve on one or two of those weaknesses and you’ve got yourself an elite player. His dribbling and 1v1 ability is elite and he’s also a pretty damn good finisher from what I’ve seen when he gets into the right positions. Focusing only on the player and his abilities he’s exactly the kind of player I’d be happy for us to sign because we’ve shown in the past we can nurture young players with some areas of excellence but some weaknesses into top quality players

Well from what I'm reading you think it's ok for the board to decide what players we should buy so yeah we 100% disagree.
Trix. I am not at all advocating the board decide in mass. I was referring to this specific instance. One player. Not every player.

Well here is a context. He got unfortunate injury in preseason which required knee surgery. He didnt play till Jan. Our game where he came on in last 10 min was his 2nd back, and nearly scored against us in injury time

Then , he was given only bench role in Feb, where he scored all those 4 goals in 4 games, mainly from bench. Then he was given 4 odd starts in between till end of season.

Silva never made him his starter, as he felt comfortable with starting Willian given he was brilliant since start of the season.

So, its not like Solomon lost his place. Its just managerial preference. Point is, Solomon output has been very good for the paltry 500 minutes he has been played this season. Still higher than Kulu or Richarlison for that matter.

For me, more importantly, Solomon has already passed the eye test. He is certainly capable to step up in that LW spot.

I agree with you buddy. This dude's a versatile baller, who makes great business sense. I really don't understand why you're getting so much heat. Some of our best players have been signed without the mangers express consent.

I think the whole Conte episode has messed people up. Only cause he's a primadonna doesn't mean every manager is.

Van der vaart. Vertonghen.

I can also name some manager signings who have been absolute dog shit, and have unfortunately been albatrosses around our necks for years. I don't blame them though. No one buys players to make us worse.

You need to go back and have a listen to Harry's interview regarding VDV. It was Redknapp who 100% had the final decision on VDV. Levy approached him and said "we've been offered VDV it needs to be done quickly do you want him." Not sure about Jan tbh.

Solomon has Champions League pedigree too.
Of 16 champions league games, scored 4 goals for Shaktar, all important goals.

1 vs Atalanta ( away - last minute winner )
2 vs Real Madrid (home & away) - On winning causes, Shaktar did the double over Madrid in the group
1 vs ManCity (Away) equaliser.
