Sounds like he's been successfully tapped up and will be off to City or something.
They will kill his career with loans to a few clubs.

He's been playing great lately but if he can't recognise where this club is going and that we are his best chance to be fast tracked into the first team then he must be high off his ass and can go on his merry way.

I hope he sees sense and stays but Spurs got shit to do so fix up or fuck off Marcus.

Frankly, if he's greedy and stupid enough to have his head turned by City, then his career deserves to fail.

For those who have not seen Edwards - he is small and very slight, and because of that this is his first real reason at u18 football, and he's not yet been in u21's because of his physical size.

He is certainly an excellent prospect, probably one of the best English talents in his age group - if not the best.

However sizewise he does require certain handling - others of his age and talent may even be allowed into the first team, but IMO could not see him doing that due to his physical constraints.

In December or so last year several ITK's suggested he had signed a contract. However most PL clubs do not announce contracts for that age of youngster so no surprise there is no certainty. In the ordinary way we would only get confirmation in the 'PL Retained List' which is usually published early July (ish) and reflects all players situation at 30 June.

So think all we can do is wait ! Probably not advice people want, but unless there is any authorative comment (and the Guardian/Mirror et al is not) that's all we can do.

I thought the rules that players his age could only sign contracts that are a maximum of 2 years in length?

If that is the case and he did sign in december he'd be able to leave in 2017 anyway.
This! It's a nothing story. If he hadn't of signed, he would be able to leave now, he wouldn't have to wait until 2017 and if he did sign, the maximum he length of time he could is 2 years, taking it to 2017.

i'm not sure i agree with this, to me he looks visibly far more built now than he did a year ago.

Agree with that, so I'm hoping he will get chances in the next few months.

But its the reason why he was not playing in the u21's at age 16 - for example Milos Veljkovic debuted for u21's at age 15 (and indeed a first team friendly) because he was physically able to cope with it

to be honest at this moment in time i couldn't care. Poch and his team are doing a fantastic job and if he wants out then his loss, particularly given that his has been at the club since the age of 8...
I don't understand why some of these young players can't look at kane and alli and get their inspiration from them rather than players like scott sinclair....

I wonder if it's money or he feels he should be playing in a higher age group - ie U21s and bring fast tracked into the first team...
Think this is very likely. By all accounts he is good friends with Reece Oxford who is already near a first team despite being less talented. Maybe this is frustrating him.

Agree, but he has to realise his mate Reece Oxford plays for a "less talented" team - that had an injury crisis and fixture pile up at the time of playing.

If he goes he goes - if he cant see what an amazing opportunity he has at Spurs and instead heads to where the big money is (and risk not playing in the future) then it's his loss. The lad may be a real talent but that doesn't mean he will make it at the top level, takes more than talent.

He is wearing an U21 shirt in the pic on that Guardian article though, so he must be getting (or at least have had) a chance here and there at that level...

He's not played in any u21 League game, nor any Spurs X! match open to the public.

Sorry mate, I don't mean to pick holes as I really appreciate your posts on youth team matters, but he does seem to have been slipped into this U21 game against Reading at least. I looked up the pic the Guardian have used (which clearly shows U21 Premier league patches on both players' shirts) and it is this one:

http://www.gettyimages.co.uk/detail...n-with-andy-rinomhota-of-news-photo/488193510

If you click or hover on the pic, you get the date in the caption: "Marcus Edwards of Spurs in action with Andy Rinomhota of Reading during the Barclays U21 Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Reading at The Lamex Stadium on September 14, 2015 in Stevenage, England."

Apologies, he did appear for the last 12 minutes which I'd forgotten about, thanks for the correction.

Maybe I shouldn't have been that precise and said that he's not been able to be an u21 regular to date due to his physique, although he has developed a fair amount over the season and with his outstanding technique I'd hope/expect to see him get more significant u21 time over the remainder of the season, next preseason and season. If I had been that talented I'd certainly have been frustrated that my physique had not matched my talent and maybe that's been a factor as many of his contemporaries in England sides have been playing more regular u21 football - and even first team football

I wonder whether the coaches might also limit the amount of U21 / mens playing time for lads who are clearly going through a growth spurt - it's not good to get your bones clattered about too much at that stage (seem to remember Gerrard, for example, being frequently injured when young as he was still growing while already making his way at Liverpool).

ME looks like he is growing and developing his physique more or less weekly right now...
