Doubt it. We had to bring in one CB regardless of everything else we have done this window. I'd buy that theory if we were getting both Tapsoba and VdV but until that happens I think it was just the necessary requirements.

It's also why it's been so frustrating because it's felt like a signing we should have made weeks ago. Then you sign Tapsoba if Kane leaves.

Yeah. Seems to me that if Kane stayed the plan was

One of Tapsoba & VDV plus at best a cheap CB (Tosin)

And if he left the plan would be:

VDV & Tapsoba plus a young forward to replace Kane (in addition to Veliz)

I hope people have patience. We're signing very high potential here but he will have slip ups in his first season, especially in a high line surrounded by a young GK, young LB, sometimes rash partner and covered by only one DM. Look at the player Kyle Walker became, and look at some of the mistakes he made early in his career.

Sorry to be the Negative Nancy (well, it is Friday), but I feel like a good number of people will hit Agree/Like/Hell Yeah, I'm On Board Choo Choo, but revert to type and start slagging him off as soon as he makes a mistake or two.

I honestly believe we are one of the worst sets of supporters for this. Would love to be proven wrong!

RE the posts about being patient… we need a CB that’s ready to go, why should we be patient if it’s been clear as day for 2 years we need a reliable CB.

Be patient with this particular player, I think is the reasonable position.

I'll be the first to admit how little I know about soccer tactics (case in point, I call it soccer). But height and speed are two attributes that you have to be born with and the fact that he has both of those in abundance is what has me very hopeful that this transfer will work out well.
