Apparently according to Windy his contract is “insane” I think this is in reference to how much he’s getting. Anyone heard an amount ?
It's definitely more than minimum wage. Of that, I am absolutely confident. Does that help or is that about as informative as a Blackpool A-Z in Brighton?

Well, yes, I was thinking it as more of a positive but it does look like a statement contract extension. I guess that something like that could go either way but would you not at least agree that a line does need to be drawn under the current situation and even if we do see a little bit of short term pain, we do want to see long term squad stability and that does have to start with players agreeing long term deals?
I naturally hold nothing against long term contracts in general, but for the time being, what's the purpose? If we are facing "a painful rebuild" or worst case scenario a new manager, who do we know that we'd like to keep around even for the next 12 months? A four year contract to a 30 years old player at the start of a rebuild, it's just puzzling to me.

What we need now, as Kane just suggests, is commitment and loyalty. Moussa is an ideal role model for his commitment and loyalty. I think every players in the squad loves him as well.

Midfield players can go into their mid 30s and perhaps Poch is looking at him as being a lynchpin of the team and whilst I would be hesitant to think of him as one of those legends that continued up to 35/36 years old, maybe that is in Poch's thoughts. I think that Levy will be sticking with Poch so I don't see any real worries there.

Fuck me, commitment and loyalty. We really are an effort team now, aren’t we? Loyalty is what people ask for from dogs. I want flair, imagination, the willingness to take risks. I want Hoddle, not Molby. I want Brady, not Henderson. I want my Spurs back. I’d rather watch us lose by the odd goal in seven, with moments of brilliance, than see us grind out a boring nil nil draw. Really tired of Poch now.

Yeah but it's the players who graft that create the opportunity for the flair players to shine.
You need to have a combination of the two.

I don’t think he will be with us for the next four years.

He’s currently a useful player in the squad and will be used on and off. If, in a couple of years time, we don’t need his services as much as we do now, we will let him leave for another club. At least, we would get back some transfer returns and not end up like the Eriksen situation .

Agree. You can’t have all flair players. We need the water carriers to put the physical pressure on our opponents so that our flair players can play to their strengths.

Don't think you can have flair players without at least some willing to do the hard graft and I think that's why he is being rewarded. Part of Eriksen's demise I think is due to how much tracking back he now has to do for example.

I don't want a team of grafters, but you need a few to let your Hoddle's go on and express themselves?

Funny you mention Henderson when he's a catalyst for Liverpool's current success.

Those are normally players like Pirlo and Xabi Alonso who can rely on their superior technical skills..

It's not much to expect a bit of both.

The only error with his contract was not making it 5 years, superb today. I imagine his wages aren't extreme and he will be a good club pro to have around even when he's on the downward trend during the later years of the contract.
